Learn to be an Illustrator
Good drawing is the basis for illustration. Once you have mastered the fundamentals of drawing, adding color is not a difficult transition. The transition from line to tone is much harder, in my opinion, than the transition from tone to color. The reason for this is because, as a watercolorist I once knew explained, value is what makes a picture read. If you still have doubts consider this fact: Leonardo Da Vinci produced over 15,000 notebook pages littered with drawings in his lifetime, but left behind less than 20 paintings. He could paint well, because he could draw well. Likewise, Vincent Van Gogh insisted on focusing on drawing fundamentals for two years before he put oil to canvas. Mastery of the fundamentals is more important than any advanced technique. Included below are some suggested resources and reading to push you in the right direction. It will take years to master the above skills, but take heart - it takes every artist years to master drawing.

Editors check for spelling and punctuation, not fact and content. Ees no their job, mon. All four of those examples lack solidity. How to paint Thor How to draw and paint Thor. Drawing Made Easy - Foreshortening Part 2 Now, the best way to foreshorten a leaf is to get one, place it in the desired position and draw it from life. The experience thus gained will enable the pupil subsequently to draw the leaf from memory. All these objects are foreshortened. Practice foreshortening- of leaves or other familiar objects from the objects themselves. These examples are only suggestions. Knowledge of how to draw any part of the human figure in a foreshortened position can be gained scarcely in any other way than from nature or through the experience of others, by copying. Tutorial Tuesday: Foreshortening Tricks Hi folks! Tutorial Tuesday is going to be a basic one – I’m a bit under the weather currently so this may not be the best post, but I want to give you something that I feel is important in the world of drawing – some pointers on foreshortening. Check this out. Foreshortening is basically an optical illusion created from a compressed looking drawing in perspective. This perspective is distorted in order to create a false sense of depth, and is used a lot in comics – Superman flying with his outstretched arm coming out of the page, or a fist connecting with a villain’s face, etc.
