Wallpaper | Historic New England American manufacturers were proud of their domestically produced goods. The billhead of Appleton Prentiss boasts an image of the American eagle and the words “AMERICAN MANUFACTURE” above rolls of different patterns he made. Many of these patterns can be identified in Historic New England’s collection. Wallpapers by several other New England paper strainers are also included in Historic New England’s collection. Clough is best known for the commemorative paper of George Washington he advertised less than one year after Washington’s death in 1799. Moses Grant, who participated in the Boston Tea Party, became a successful upholsterer and wallpaper manufacturer. Zechariah Mills, (1770-1851) a Hartford, Connecticut, wallpaper manufacturer and dealer, sold his own papers and those he imported from Philadelphia, Baltimore, New York, and Boston. A French arabesque paper from The Mount in Bristol, Rhode Island, features characteristics typical of Reveillon’s style.

Paint Home Interiors, Trims & Joinery - Inspiring Ideas from Resene Decorating inspiration gallery The McKernan family have transformed their home with a broad palette of Resene colours. Their bedroom is painted in Resene Kidman with woodwork, including doors, in Resene Swirl. The colour choices alone have transformed the bedroom from a boring 1950s style to a romantic, modern room. The original windows were removed and French doors added to give it a sense of space and take advantage of the garden. It opened up the room but created a problem of where to put the wardrobes. They also added a small roman blind to the picture window so the wall did not feel too busy. The hanging light was a great find as it added to the whole feel of the room. The lounge was once two separate rooms, with the original lounge small and dark with an open fireplace as the only source of heating for the house. The room was transformed into an airy and light room that gets almost all day sun. Thanks to Brett & Michelle McKernan of Christchurch.
