Irregular verbs sound patterns Irregular verbs are verbs whose past tense and past participle form do not end with the usual “ed”. Unluckily for English learners, the most common verbs in English happen to be irregular. I have seen so many students struggle with irregular verbs and so finally decided to group or categorize irregular verbs phonetically (by sound that is) to help the students to remember them quicker.
