Kindergarten Counting Activity - Planning Playtime Do you need a fun Kindergarten Counting Activity to use with your kids? We discovered such a fun one this week using dominoes and Uno Cards. It combines counting, subitizing, and possibly even a little bit of addition. Simple activities are our favorites. We love to use activities that can be put together in just minutes with fun things that are already lying around the house or classroom.

DIY Math Multiplying Manipulatives * Evil Math Wizard I teach math to 2-5th graders, which is a big range. But it’s fun for me to see the development changes especially when using objects to help them figure things out, from fingers, blocks, counters, fractions kits, etc. I encourage my students to use them. I don’t want them to hide their fingers under their desk when they are figuring things out.

Teach Non-Standard Weights & Measurement Using This Easy Homemade Weigh Station - WeAreTeachers Do you teach weight and measurement using non-standard units? Then you need to make this easy homemade weigh station for some hands-on exploration. It’s a great center activity or way to model non-standard units for the whole class.

Number Frames Overview Number Frames help students structure numbers to five, ten, twenty, and one hundred. Students use the frames to count, represent, compare, and compute with numbers in a particular range. The frames help students see quantities as equal groups of other quantities and in relation to benchmark quantities. Roll to 100! - Inspired Elementary There are so many fun games that can be played with a 100 Chart! One of my favorites is Roll to 100. This is a game that I created as a low-prep, fun place value center for my second graders...and they loved it! I have also used this game with first graders to practice identifying odd and even numbers, and for teaching my four year old number recognition to 100. Here are the details for the three different ways I have used this game, starting with number recognition. When using Roll to 100 for number recognition, no recording sheet is needed.

Debbie Diller I wish I knew the best way to explain my Math Stations. I've said it many times, I like it simple, clear and meaningful. So ... in a nutshell... here is how I run my math stations in my 2nd grade class. Velcro Dot Craft Sticks (Popsicle Stick Projects) Know someone who could use this? Share it! I am always on the look out for simple ways to keep the kids busy while somehow encouraging and building upon creative use and learning. This popsicle stick project is just perfect. I came across this DIY activity box on pinterest the one day and saw so much potential! Unfortunately, the lady who wrote up this cool craft did not leave the exact materials for the making them.
