When Thismoment does its job correctly, the average online user doesn’t even know it’s there. But now that the San Francisco-based Thismoment has closed on a sizable new funding round, it’s ready to start courting a little more mainstream attention. Thismoment tells TechCrunch it has raised $22 million in new funding, which serves as a Series C round. The round was led by Trident Capital, with the participation of existing investors Sierra Ventures and Fenway Partners’ Tim Mayhew . TechCrunch TV sat down with Thismoment’s founder and CEO Vince Broady to learn more about Thismoment’s growth so far and what the funding round means for the company’s future. On this site, people can create albums to which everybody can contribute these photos they have in their possession, and also comment on all that’s being shared. The idea is to let all the people who have been to the same parties, concerts and just any other kind of gathering see them through other people’s eyes. And in addition to letting users upload everything from scratch, Sharypic lets them have the photos they have on sites such as Flickr, Picasa and even Facebook imported and placed on the corresponding Sharypic albums. In any case, it’s important to mention that you don’t necessarily have to share the albums you create with absolutely everybody if you don’t want to. Mobile-Friendly Pet Locator PetHub Closes $1.3 Million Seed Round Seattle-based startup PetHub just closed its seed round of $1.3 million from angel investors (including PetHub founder Tom Arnold‘s dad!) for a service that helps lost pets find their way home. The company uses a combination of online pet profiles and scannable ID tags that allow anyone with a mobile phone to quickly access everything there is to know about the pet, including the owners’ contact information, the pet’s allergies and medications, dietary needs, immunizations, vet insurance details and more. For those with smartphones, the ID tags have a scannable QR code which links to the pet’s mobile-optimized online profile. For feature phone-owning rescuers, there’s a website URL as well as a 24/7 “Found Pet” hotline listed, too. When someone finds a PetHub subscriber’s lost pet, they’re sent an email notification, and if the rescuer also scanned the QR code with their smartphone, then the owner is also sent the GPS location of that scan. In other news, I really miss my dog.

Digital Photo Printing Review 2012 | Online Photo Printing | Print Digital Photos - TopTenREVIEWS Digital Photo Printing Review How to Choose a Digital Photo Printing Service The top performers in our review are Walgreens, the Gold Award winner; Shutterfly, the Silver Award winner; and York Photo, the Bronze Award winner. Here’s more on choosing a system to meet your needs, along with detail on how we arrived at our ranking of 10 services. There is something nostalgic and charming about the art of traditional photography: winding the film, steadying your hand and, of course, the development process in a darkroom. Forget the darkroom, the rolls and rolls of film and the limited frames. For the best quality photo prints, we recommend Walgreens, Shutterfly or York Photo, our top three digital photo printing services. Digital Photo Printing Services: What We Tested, What We Found As we compared photo printing companies, we looked at them from the standpoint of a consumer. Print Quality Site features and customer support services are important, but print quality is paramount.

Share photos in collaborative albums with Yogile.com Digital photos – wonderful things. No longer are we limited to a paltry 24 frames of film before having to pause, reload, and realise we’ve missed the moment. Memory cards are now large enough to snap hundreds of photos without stopping, which means more photos and more opportunities to catch those special moments. After a night out, family meal, or Christmas party, you’re fairly likely to want to share photos with some of the people who were there… either as a reminder of a great time or to spread a bit of embarrassment over some of the funnier incidents. There are a load of photo sharing sites out there, but I want to introduce you to Yogile.com. Yogile.com makes it incredibly easy to share images privately and within groups. Take a wedding, for example. Once you’ve got the photos online, there are options to share the album on Twitter or Facebook and, if the album is public, to embed it on your website. Yogile.com is a clever take on photo sharing and collaboration.
