Adventure Time Adventure Time (formerly known as Adventure Time with Finn and Jake) is an American animated television series created by Pendleton Ward and produced by Frederator Studios. The show is based on an original animated short titled "Adventure Time," which aired on Frederator's Random! Cartoons show and won an Annie Award for the Best Animated Short Subject of 2009. The series is about a boy named Finn and a twenty-eight year-old, magical dog named Jake who encounter many strange adventures in the Land of Ooo. In 2010, Cartoon Network picked up the series, and it premiered with "sneak peeks" on March 11 and 18, 2010 followed by the official series premiere on April 5, 2010. This series is rated TV-PG, with a few re-rated episodes. Click through for instructions… (more…) The Rabbit Dreams of Dr. Freud's Niece The Rabbit Dreams of Dr. Freud's Niece Under the pseudonym Tom Seidmann-Freud—often shortened to just "Tom"—Sigmund Freud's eccentric niece Martha illustrated a series of wonderful children's books in the early twentieth century. She killed herself in 1930 (age 37 or 38), a year after her husband killed himself. This grim ending is not reflected in her dream-like, often whimsical work. (12/30 update: "whimsically apocalyptic" might be more accurate for the rabbit book.) I feature here most of her illustrations for Buch Der Hasengeschichten (The Book of Rabbit Stories, 1924)—one of my favorite children's books though I'll likely never own a copy—and a handful from Die Fischreise (The Fish's Journey, 1923) and The Book of Things (poems by Hayim Nahman Bialik). Land of Ooo The Land of Ooo is the main setting of Adventure Time, and is the home continent of Finn and Jake, along with all of their friends and foes. It is divided into many different kingdoms, of which the most prominent are the Ice Kingdom, Candy Kingdom, Castle Lemongrab, Wildberry Kingdom, Lumpy Space, Fire Kingdom, and Cloud Kingdom. There are also many geographical areas not known to be part of any kingdom, such as the Evil Forest and the Bad Lands. Map Frederator Studios released two different official maps of the Land of Ooo along with the original Adventure Time pitch documents: the black-and-white map and color map, both seen in the gallery below. Its general shape matches the aerial view of Ooo seen in "Business Time" (see picture in gallery below). Map-only locations The two official maps show many locations that have never been mentioned or seen on the show. On the color map, a Mystery Temple appears on an island off the east coast of Ooo.
