The Museum Of Old Techniques For almost every electronic device or oil driven machine there used to be a low-tech alternative that was powered by human muscles, water or wind. The Museum of Old Techniques aims to collect and study these historical alternatives to modern day machinery. Why, you may ask? To quote the Museum: "Evolution doesn't necessarily mean progress, what we consider to be primitive solutions are often not primitive at all".

Earthship Project - Guatemala The Earthship crew has completed the 3-week build that donated a home to a family in Comalapa, Guatemala for the second time around. Working with Long Way Home, a non-profit organization in Comalapa working to build sustainable schools, we were able to raise the appropriate amount of money as well as gather volunteers and organize to allow this project to take place. We are thankful for all who participated and donated to this project. The 3-U Survival Pod for Romeo Apen and his family has been enclosed with power and water systems in place. The last two days on the job site were spent finishing the plasterwork, planting and fine-tuning the systems so that Romeo can work on his own finishes unique to his liking. A final Q&A session was held by Phil Basehart, the project director, which included all of our volunteers as well as the crew of Long Way Home who with the help of a volunteer translator, were able to ask about the building and the principles of Earthships.

OpenEEG project About the project Many people are interested in what is called neurofeedback or EEG biofeedback training, a generic mental training method which makes the trainee consciously aware of the general activity in the brain. This method shows great potential for improving many mental capabilities and exploring consciousness. Other people want to do experiments with brain-computer interfaces or just want to have a look at their brain at work. Unfortunately, commercial EEG devices are generally too expensive to become a hobbyist tool or toy.

Aquaculture in Canada: Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) Aquaculture (fish farming) already supplies approximately 50 percent of the fish and seafood consumed worldwide, and production is steadily increasing. Further development of the aquaculture industry in Canada could mean significant economic growth as well as job opportunities for Canadians – especially in coastal and rural areas. Responsible growth of the industry will depend on continued research to find innovative ways to improve the environmental performance and diversification of the sector.
