Hair Tutorial: braided 'do I know I said I would post this hair tutorial yesterday, but obviously I'm a no good liar because today is not yesterday, it's today. This hairstyle is basically the same thing as milkmaid braids, only modified to up the volume and lessen the big part in the back. Pigtails or regular milkmaid braids make me look like I'm balding, as I have a wicked scar in the back of my head. I would recommend doing this in a mirror and checking the back to make sure it's all neat and tidy as you go, because I did not and it's a little (or a lot) messy in the back. What you need: dry shampoo or volumizing product (like the Sachajuan volume powder I often use) bobby pins brush If your hair needs added texture, you can use a dry shampoo. Pin the newly teased section (make sure the top layer is smooth, to cover the mess) with a couple (or more, if you need them) of bobby pins. You should now have what is known as the Snookie. Divide the lower section into two parts and braid.

How To: Upside Down French Braid Bun Here is a simple hairstyle that will keep your hair in place, and make you look equally stylish, and sleek, even on hottest summer days (or for an elegant winter party). I suppose that all you can think about in these long summer days is how to keep your hair off your neck and shoulders, but you are probably getting tired of the usual ponytail, and top knot hairstyles. So, here is a suggestion, try a style that combines your two favorites, a French braid, and a ballerina bun. And yes, now you can look interesting and polished even in the tropical temperatures. For making the Upside Down French Braid Bun you might want to enlist a help of a friend who’s proficient in French braiding, and it will be fun. But with a few basic hairstyling tools, and a little knowledge in the science of braiding, you can do it on your own. Tools: a brushelastic bandsbobby pinsbun roll, mousse and hairspray (optionally) Tip: Keep in mind that your hair will be easier to work with if it’s not freshly washed.

Bobby Pin Hair Bow You'll be cutting two rectangular pieces of fabric. One will be the actual bow, and one will be the middle part (see second photo for clarification). The measurements do not have to be accurate at all. I don't personally measure, and just guess. For those who are more precise, the final bow will be roughly one third of the length and the entire height of the fabric. NOTE: Since I am using t-shirt fabric for this particular bow, I don't have to worry about finishing the edges since it won't fray. For other fabrics, it's easy as well: Just fold the fabric in half height-wise with the good sides facing each other, then sew along the long edge.

Have fun styling! does PINTEREST KNOW EVERYTHING? If you haven't read about why we do these posts, check out the explanation in our first "Does Pinterest Know Everything?" post. So Pinterest told me that if I braided my hair and then used a straightener on those braids, that I would end up with these beautiful waves. Here is my hair before, completely straight. Split all of your hair into two parts and then braid each part and secure with a hair tie of your choosing. Take one of the braids and twist it tightly away from your face. Place the straightener around the twisted braid and instead of just pulling the straightener down... Twist the straightener in the same direction the hair is twisted. This is what the braids looked like after being "straightened." When your hair has completely cooled, pull out your hair ties and run your fingers through the braids to release them. This is a front view of my hair. -Beachy waves look without adding texture products to your hair -Fast and easy -Inconsistent I think this method worked okay.
