A Splendid Assemblage: Favorite Up-Do Hairstyle Tutorials for Summer Hair has always been my "thing" but I do develop certain "shave it all off" tendencies at least once a year. So far I haven't..I do wonder how that would feel though. There are so many fantastic hair tutorials out there that even in this heat I really don't mind how long my hair is.Except when my bangs get too long and then everything turns dark. Here are some of my favorite up-do and bun hair tutorials for these hot summer months or any season really :)

Tag Archive for "wedding hairstyles" - The Beauty Department: Your daily dose of pretty. photo/post/graphic design: Kristin Ess One of my all time favorite hairstyles for a wedding or for red carpet is the most super simple chic chignon (say that 3 times fast!). In this tutorial we show future brides and bridesmaids alike how to keep their hair out of the way while maintaining a timeless, classic look for any event. This is one of those updos that really allows you to focus on the dress, accessories and overall beauty instead of being a major focal point. Let’s get started! Start with all of your hair in a ponytail. MADE: TUTORIAL: the Circle Skirt - StumbleUpon I used to think that a gathered skirt was the easiest skirt to sew. But I may have changed my tune. A circle skirt is possibly even easier!….especially if you leave the elastic exposed. If you’ve ever made a poodle skirt before, it’s the same concept. Your fabric is cut in a circle, like a donut.

9 Charmingly Delightful Beauty Techniques from All Over the World &8230; - StumbleUpon Beauty techniques are highly beneficial, but some of them are incredibly recycled. What I mean is, in my life, I always get the same pieces of advice. My friends and family members always share the same beauty techniques – and yes, they're extremely helpful, but sometimes I'd like to hear something new, wouldn't you? In that spirit, I've gathered some amazing beauty techniques from all over the world! If you've ever wanted to know how women from India keep their hair so lustrous or how Scandinavian women keep their complexions so flawless, I've got you covered!

PIN IT UP, GIRL Our email box is literally flooded with requests for updos so here’s a fun one to get us all going! This is always a favorite for attending an event. This updo looks gorgeous on any hair color but particularly amazing with hilighted hair because it gives the hair lots of depth and dimension. For lack of a better word, I love the way it becomes “swirly”. Best thing is; it’s easy to do, gorgeous and keeps your hair out of your way for the night. I made this a printable tutorial, so all of the steps are next to the photos.

Party Plait Hairstyle [ 11 images ] Party Plait Hairstyle : Plaits helps to create a range of hairstyles that will suit any occasion. How to- Pin Curls Pin curls are one of the easiest most fuss free ways to get curls and they are a personal favorite of mine. They take very little time to put in and can be styled in many different ways. There have already been a whole lot of tutorials on the subject, Super Kawaii Mama did a great pin curl video here: after a lot of requests I thought it was about time I did one too ^_^ *edit* I have added a video which includes me taking them out at the bottom too. What you will need for this particular pin curls tutorial: PinsCurl spray or hair sprayScarf (optional)Hair ties (optional)Brush So start with clean hair and make sure that there are no knots or tangles.

How to Update a Hand Me Down Dresser - StumbleUpon I love gift-wrap and I also love anything and everything having to do with typefaces. So it is no surprise to me that I have had my eye on this vintage typographer gift-wrap ever since Emily over at Jones Design Company posted about it as well as many other pretty papers she uses. I wanted to find a way I could use this gift-wrap where I could enjoy the pattern in my daily life instead of only wrapping gifts with it and giving it away. When I started to update my guest room I got an idea on how I could incorporate it into the room. The gift-wrap comes in 20” x 28” sheets that cost $4.00 each. I needed 3 to cover the top of my dresser and the drawer pulls.

DIY Project: Repurposing your maps! Good Morning darlings...Hope you have a fabulous day today!! With the use of GPS there is really not much use to all those maps we collected through out time...but somehow I have a hard time throwing them away. How about this lovely way of repurposing them?? I think they are super cute for a corridor to the kids room, or a small side wall!! A Beautiful Mess: HAIR + MAKEUP Whenever I make a mental list of things that I am thankful for, once I get past all the obvious top favorites like family and friends, I always give false lashes a grateful shout-out. Now, I realize that false lashes are not a big deal to everyone, but I was given a pretty skimpy set of lashes to work with, so I love being able to throw on a pair of falsies for a special night. Everyone has something that gives them an extra boost of confidence (maybe a favorite outfit, super high shoes, or a fresh manicure) and lashes are it for me. I've been playing around with lashes for a few years now, and here's a few thoughts to consider if you are thinking about getting into the lashes game:

page 9 Recently I realized that we’ve never really had a specific chat about hair serums. There are so many different formulas from silicone-based, to alcohol free, to natural, to curl enhancing, etc… All of them promise to deliver mega shine on the driest, dullest hair. But there’s more to it than that. I thought it would be fun to break down 8 of my favorites (each being my jam for a different reason), tell you what I’ve experienced with each and tell you who I would recommend them for. I tend to apply some sort of serum on almost every head of hair that I curl which I think is a major contributor to why my curls get so perfectly piece-y. Tutorials Hola there! Here you can find an organized list of all my tutorials, projects and printables. I want to point out that I am no sewing expert and have no formal education in either sewing or English (Spanish is my native language) So I might not always use the correct terminology or best technique, I am always learning too! It might not always be perfect, but it’s sure a lot of fun! All of my tutorials and printables for personal use only, if you want to sell items made with these tutorials please purchase a Limited Production License.

I PLEDGE&8230; - thebeautydepartment.com photo: lilylock.tumblr.com/post design: eunice chun Every single Winter I swear that I’m not going to let my face get dry, irritated and chapped. But life gets in the way, I forget to stay on top of it and before I know it, the corners of my lips are cracked and my chin is so dry and irritated that it even has little rash-like bumps on it! Then I spend the next month trying to turn it around, but the heavy emollient creams strong enough to tackle the chapped skin only inflame and irritate the rash, causing dermatitis and break outs, landing me in my dermatologist’s office, hoping my insurance will cover it!!

Elsies Thrift Tips My sister, Emma, and I started thrifting together when I got my drivers license in high school. There are several shops in our town that stay open until 9PM, so that is what we would do for fun several times a week. With absolutely no knowledge of vintage we collected dresses and accessories from the decades that we loved, the 1950s-1970s. We also collected little boys cartoon t-shirts from the 1980s and a pretty sweet collection of "hope chest" items like fondue pots and retro coffee mugs. We started thrifting because it was a way to be unique (something very important to our high-school-selves) and a way to stretch the small budget we had for clothing. Fast forward ten years and we still love thrifting.
