.facebook_533588393 .facebook_-169826359 Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: 10 Great iPad Apps for Learning English March , 2014 Over the last couple of weeks I received some requests for featuring a list of iPad apps for ESL learners and I never had time to compile it till tonight. Below are some of the titles I would suggest you try out with your students. Again, I included only the ones I believe are worth the mention here. 1- Kidioms The Kidioms iPad app makes learning idioms fun for children, ELL students, or anyone wishing to improve their understanding of English. Doctor Phrasalstein who, with the help of his friends, will teach us 100 phrasal verbs using animations inspired by the classic “horror movie” genre, with a touch of humour and irony. 3- Wordbook WordBook is a comprehensive, quick and intuitive dictionary and thesaurus of the English language. PrepositionBuilder™ is designed to help elementary aged children learn the correct use of prepositions and learn how prepositions can change the meaning of a sentence. 5- Basic Pronunciation

A Guide to Using these Exercises The following pages of explanation and the accompanying exercises are intended to form a comprehensive guide to using English grammar and avoiding the most common mistakes. They are geared to the writing of formal academic essays and the type of language expected in such situations. It is perfectly possible to work systematically through the explanations and exercises. It is more likely that you will want to brush up on a particular point of grammar rather than go through all the exercises in turn. Each point of grammar has an explanation and a related exercise or exercises. The explanation sections contain several examples. The examples all look like this. The pages have been designed to make it easy to navigate your way to the sections that are most relevant for you.

Studieresa Grade 5 – Read aloud

.facebook_1372053277 .facebook_-976420583 Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: 6 Good Educational Web Tools to Teach Writing Through Comics March 2, 2014 Writing is a tedious cognitive act that is intellectually demanding for students. The approach we teacher and educators adopt towards writing makes the different between a real engagement and apathy. Students usually view the writing process as personally revealing and thus they loose any kind of connection with it. Our job as teachers is to build this connection between student writers and the writing practice through engaging them in real and authentic tasks that speak to their immediate environment and provoke their intellectual curiosity. Using comic strips is one powerful way to get students excited and motivated about the writing act. Students love to interact with visuals and tools such as the ones listed below will empower them to do just that. Here are some of the best educational web tools that students can use for creating comics and engaging in written discussions around different topics and stories. 1- Scholastic story starters 2- Make Beliefs Comix 5- Chogger

Educational Technology and Mobile Learning: 3 Easy Ways to Create A Google Plus Hangout with Your Students Upon the multiple requests I received regarding this topic, I decided to create an easy visual step by step guide to show you how you can create a hangout on Google plus with your students. Just a reminder, Google Plus hangouts allow users to video chat with up to 10 people in real time and for free. Users can see each other in small boxes while the person who is speaking appears in a large window top. This is a great way for teachers to hold online classes with group of students who need help. They can also arrange for online chatting sessions to discuss topics of relevant interest. I have listed the three ways to do it, use the one that suits you the best. The first way1- Start a hangoutClick on " hangout party" on the bottom left of your Google Plus page then click on " start a hangout " 2- Post a hangout invitationProvide the description of the hangout and type in the emails of your students or whomever you want to participate in your hangout.
