Knights Templar rotten > Library > Conspiracy > Knights Templar According to legend, the Knights Templar was founded in 1118 to protect tourists headed for Jerusalem. There the small band of warrior monks established a headquarters. In due course, they somehow managed to gain possession of the Ark of the Covenant, which they hid for safekeeping.

RadicalStreetFighter on Xanga The next month or two of work on Xanga 2.0 is going to be busy, so I wanted to share with everyone a roadmap of how we’re thinking about things! We’re dividing the work on this project into four basic phases. Phase 1. Data migration As described here, we’ve imported over every account that we have on Xanga over to the new system so that anyone who could sign into Xanga can still sign into Xanga 2.0. (Try it here!) Rupert Murdoch Unleashes His Inner Book Critic on Twitter - Business Move over Oprah, another media titan is stepping into the hardback endorsement space. Rupert Murdoch, with his inexplicable but highly entertaining presence on Twitter, is on a book critic tear, firing off terse, 140-character reviews of literature ranging from the controversial to mainstream bestsellers. The News Corp. chairman and CEO has a rather unpredictable reading diet.

The Best Science Fiction Books (According to Reddit) - StumbleUpon Recently, someone asked Reddit for a list of the best science fiction books of all time. Being a fan of sci-fi, and wanting to expand my own reading list, I thought it would be helpful to tally the results and preserve them here for future reference. I've also included selected quotes from the comments, as well as my own notes on the books I've already read. PS: All book images in this post are copyright Amazon, and were retrieved using my Big Book Search Engine.

The 7 Greatest (True) Johnny Depp Stories Ever Told Somehow Johnny Depp always seems to commits the weirdest crimes. Even when the guy is doing something "wrong", he does it with style. He's never been arrested for doing anything outside of the realm of what you'd expect from him, even with all his money. In 1994, Depp was staying at a fancy New York hotel and completely wrecked his room. Like, furniture everywhere, broken glass, the works. 50 Best Books for American History Buffs While a young country in comparison to many others around the globe, the United States nonetheless has a rich and engaging history. From the early days of settlement on the East Coast in Maryland, to the wild days of outlaws and Indian wars in the West, from shore to shore, there is plenty to learn about when it comes to studying how our country came to be the nation that it is today. Best of all, you don’t have to major in history to do it. All you need is a passion for history and a few good books.

Please Don’t Promise Me Forever Imagine this: It’s 1976 and you’re dating a man named Rick. He has a mustache and owns at least one reindeer sweater. High off of reading The Easter Parade and The Great Santini, he’s all pumped up to write the next great American novel but, to make ends meet, he’s currently working for Hallmark. He’s been really cagey about his latest project, only revealing that this will be the first time Hermann Zapf‘s Crown font is used in a publication. 30 Books I’m Glad I Read Before 30 In various ways, these 30 books convey some of the philosophy of how Angel and I live our lives. I honestly credit a fraction of who I am today to each title. Thus, they have indirectly influenced much of what I write about on this site. A medley of both fiction and nonfiction, these great reads challenged my internal status quo, opening my mind to new ideas and opportunities, and together they gave me a basic framework for living, loving, learning and working successfully.

a comprehensive and detailed recommendation list of the best fantasy books ever written. The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow... I can truthfully say that Jordan is the King of Fantasy, if not in complexity, then in page count. This monstrously big series spans over 13 massive books (each at least 700 pages). New Page 1 Back to ContentsRubik's Cube Solution: How to put together a mixed-up Rubik's cube, most of the time with your eyes closed, and manipulating the cube above your head, or behind your back. My record time using this method was 2 minutes 13 seconds. Just memorize the following formula (it's easy!), and only look at the cube briefly after each "move." *** High-speed internet recommended to download this web page, which was scanned as .BMP from 14 separate pages of instructions i wrote by hand in 1986...

10 Great American Dystopias Totally agree - these are dystopias ABOUT America, not necessarily spawned in America. I also included Julian Comstock, which is another novel by a Canadian author that is in fact set partly in Saskatchewan. I don't really agree that they're about America though. Especially the Haidmaid's Tale. Book Review: Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children When my brother gave me an Amazon gift card for my birthday, I did something I never do: I bought a book without reading it first. (Usually I read library books, and then buy the ones I know I'll read again.) After finishing Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, I'm glad I took the leap. I won't summarize the plot for you here, but suffice to say this is a YA fantasy supplemented with darkly intriguing vintage photos like the one above. I didn't learn until finishing the book that almost all are actual vintage photos (a few slightly modified), and were not made specifically for the story. This was quite the revelation, and I found myself going back and looking at each photo again, marveling at how seamlessly the author, Ransom Riggs, was able to weave them into the storyline.
