Description: paperback, viii + 168 pages. Contents: Preface, introduction, 18 chapters, index. Note: Translated by Kenneth A. Excerpt(s): In 1989 as I was finishing a long investigation on this sub-ject-which in the end filled three volumes in small print with narrow margins-it seemed that the probable future of that book was to rest in the bookcases of different university libraries, a summary of suggestions to students as to how to consider the effect of this or that drug in the evolution of medicine, morals, religion, economics, and the mechanisms of political control. Initiation was prohibited only to murderers. The Mysteries gave us life, nourishment; they taught societies the custom and the law, they taught humans how to live as humans. ... Thanks to A.

Psychedelics Can Expand Your Consciousness It might seem as though we are all separate, and individual from one another and our environment. While that may appear true and could very well be true in some ways, we are also all connected at the deepest levels of existence. When understanding this, we can look at how we operate daily and begin to ask questions: Why are we so concerned with dominating one another? Why do we strive to be better than others? Why do we chase pieces of paper so that we can have more and more things? Personally I have not done psychedelics so it cannot be completely accurate for me to say exactly what you would feel while doing them. We are all connected. “Psychedelics are illegal not because a loving government is concerned that you may jump out of a third story window. As Terrence McKenna pointed out, psychedelics can lead to vast understandings and expansive changes to ones life that would push them to begin changing how they live life.

Speed of Light in MPH Want to stay on top of all the space news? Follow @universetoday on Twitter Lightspeed! The speed of light in mph (miles per hour) is 670,616,629 mph. Just to give you some perspective, the average distance from the Earth to the Moon is 238,854 miles. The average distance from the Sun to the Earth is 92,955,817 miles. In fact, in just a single hour, light can get from the Sun all the way out to beyond the orbit of Jupiter and most of the way to Saturn. Of course, most measurements of the speed of light are done in the metric system. We have written many articles about the speed of light for Universe Today. Here’s a cool calculator that lets you convert many different units for the speed of light, and here’s a relativity calculator, in case you wanted to travel nearly the speed of light. We have recorded an episode of Astronomy Cast which answers many questions about the speed of light and relativity. Tagged as: speed of light

Rituals enhance health Study finds no deficits among American Indians who use peyote regularly American Indians who use the hallucinogen peyote regularly in connection with religious ceremonies show no evidence of brain damage or psychological problems, report researchers at Harvard-affiliated McLean Hospital. In fact, members of the Navajo tribe who regularly use peyote actually scored significantly better on several measures of overall mental health than did subjects from the same tribe who were not members of the religious group and did not use the hallucinogen, according to a paper published in the Nov. 4 issue of Biological Psychiatry. "We found no evidence that these Native Americans had residual neurocognitive problems. Despite lifelong participation in the peyote church, they performed just as well on mental tests as those who had never used peyote,'' said the study's first author, John Halpern of McLean Hospital's Biological Psychiatry Laboratory.

George Dawe was an English portrait artist who painted 329 portraits of Russian generals active during Napoleon’s invasion of Russia for the Military Gallery of the Winter Palace, Saint Petersburg, Russia. Replace Face is an awesome Tumblr, he uses digital copies of these paintings as a basis for his own work which involves incorporating his friends, family and even some celebrities into the paintings using photoshop. “One thing I’ve always wanted to try (I have a list) is to incorporate someone into a painting, mimicking the painterly brush strokes and making everything fit and work nicely and look natural and stuff. There’s an art to head swapping, I’ve seen so many awful attempts. Yes Sir, No Sir! Altered state of consciousness An altered state of consciousness (ASC),[1] also called altered state of mind, is any condition which is significantly different from a normal waking beta wave state. The expression was used as early as 1966 by Arnold M. Ludwig[2] and brought into common usage from 1969 by Charles Tart.[3][4] It describes induced changes in one's mental state, almost always temporary. A synonymous phrase is "altered state of awareness". Concept[edit] The term "altered state of consciousness" was introduced and defined by Ludwig in 1966.[5] An altered state of consciousness is any mental state induced by physiological, psychological, or pharmacological maneuvers or agents, which deviates from the normal waking state of consciousness.[5] Some observable abnormal and sluggish behaviors meet the criteria for altered state of consciousness.[6] Altered states of consciousness can also be associated with artistic creativity[7] or different focus levels. The pyramids are the key to the discovery of time travel I have discovered the secret to time travel. I'm sure that the ancients were visited by these time travelers. Quezacoatl, Thoth, Lucifer, Fallen angels, Greek gods all the very same timetravelers. Most claimed to return in the future. I believe they were talking about their births. The planets in our solar system are all one planet evolving in time! The inner planets are all the same composition, iron, rock, etc. Mars used to have water, magnetic field, tectonic activity, carbonate rocks, possibly life, and pyramids in the same formation as egypt and mexico, JUST LIKE EARTH! I believe that an impact to Earth will at the same time transform Venus into a life sustaining planet, and transform Earth into an uninhabitable planet Mars. In 2012 there will be a transit of Venus. Now let's look at the gas planets. Saturn which is smaller than Jupiter has rings of debris and gases orbiting around the planet. Uranus has fewer rings then Saturn, and Neptune has even fewer rings then Uranus.
