Extraordinary Claims

Extraordinary Claims
The Centre for Inquiry Canada’s Extraordinary Claims Campaign features bus ads, educational events and online discussions to challenge many well-known - and widely believed - claims by demanding evidence as extraordinary as the claims themselves. Why is the belief in Bigfoot dismissed as delusional while strident belief in Allah and Christ is respected and revered? All of these claims are equally extraordinary and demand critical examination. At the Centre for Inquiry we are always challenging ideas and asking tough questions with the purpose of promoting reason, science, secularism and freedom of inquiry. Pharyngula Probably not. But the New York Times reports: A review of studies has found that the health benefits of infant male circumcision vastly outweigh the risks involved in the procedure. "Your atheism does not offend me" A perfect and loving being created us all 6000 years ago only to realize that his creation was flawed. So, he damned us all to a punishment of eternal burning. He was a loving God and really didn’t want us all to burn forever for how he created us, so he devised a clever way to forgive us after thinking about it for 4000 years. Have a son and kill him, and ask that we accept the zombie as our lord. We will still have sin but it will then be OK to be how he created us. Thank god we weren’t part of the unfortunate who didn’t have the luxury of accepting a zombie into our hearts.

Hit & Run : Reason Magazine PwCWith tax season upon us, if you were a foreign business owner regarding all of this scurrying around to file forms and pay the United States government its take, would you consider the activity as relatively attractive compared to the alternatives? Or would you consider it a turnoff? To judge by rankings released last year by the consulting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers (you can call it PwC), businesses may venture into the Land of the Free for market opportunities, but that may well be despite a pretty uncompetitive tax regime. The U.S. ranks 64 out of 189 for ease of paying taxes, has a total tax rate that's above average and, importantly, barely seems to be trying to compete with other countries that Americans once mocked as overtaxed and overgoverned.
