Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity (9780142000281): David Allen David Allen Part 2: Getting Things Web Done: Business Collaboration News « Being a project driven nomadic my-company-is-my-laptop web working entrepreneur or employee can be like being stuck in a drier on high with a fire hose of information and data stuck in for fun. How do you cope? For years as a developer and writer I’ve used David Allen’s Getting Things Done methodology; but I’ve been increasingly nagged by the question of whether GTD out of the box really worked for my increasingly webized life. Earlier this month I had the chance to interview David Allen so I grabbed the opportunity to scratch that itch and ask him a few questions about GTD and web work. Bob Walsh: OK. David Allen: No. There’s no difference in the cloud of information that’s sitting in the web or the cloud of information in the forest. So the necessity to do GTD, that is to make quick decisions and appropriate decisions on the front end when things show up on your radar, instead of just letting them lie fallow there just becomes that much more critical. David: Sure. David: Probably.

Getting Things Done Personal productivity system and 2001 book The GTD method rests on the idea of moving all items of interest, relevant information, issues, tasks and projects out of one's mind by recording them externally and then breaking them into actionable work items with known time limits.[b][c] This allows one's attention to focus on taking action on each task listed in an external record, instead of recalling them intuitively.[5] First published in 2001,[4] a revised edition of the book was released in 2015 to reflect the changes in information technology during the preceding decade.[1] Themes[edit] Allen first demonstrates stress reduction from the method with the following exercise, centered on a task that has an unclear outcome or whose next action is not defined. The most annoying, distracting, or interesting task is chosen, and defined as an "incomplete". BLOGRIGE Posted by Dawn Marie Bailey Dear Leader, The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program remains a national Presidential award program. President Obama recognizes the benefits , just as his predecessors Presidents Reagan, Bush, Clinton, and Bush did, of a bipartisan program of national role models in the manufacturing, service, small business, education, health care, and nonprofit industries. Economists have released a study that Baldrige's return on investment to the U.S. economy is over 800 to 1. Thomson Reuters, which for the past 18 years has produced the 100 Top Hospitals list using a national balanced scorecard, has released a study that health care organizations pursuing the Baldrige Award outperformed the health care industry on five of six key indices, including patient outcomes and hospital consumer assessment scores. If you are looking for a small business national role model, consider Freese and Nichols, Inc. or K&N Management , among other Baldrige Award recipients . Sincerely,

Program | FutureMidwest Conference home Exploring the 'Net and Star Trek with Pearltrees Over the past few days, you may have noticed that we've embedded a new tool known as Pearltrees in certain articles on TG Daily. As you can see, Pearltrees embeds a significant amount of supplemental information related to a post in a way that is easy to navigate, while giving you a chance to preview content before you even click a link. There's a lot more to Pearltrees, though. What does this mean for you? Well, you can "team-up" with people who share your interests to curate a topic, thereby providing improved context, more depth and high-quality information. "Obviously, it would be pretty difficult to find all of this content in any reasonable amount of time using Google or another search tool," Pearltrees rep Oliver Starr told TG Daily. "From my perspective, the advantage of using something like Pearltrees is that it harnesses the power of people - and particularly domain experts on any topic - to do the searching for you.
