TIL the creator of "The Bachelor" thinks women love the show because they enjoy watching other women suffer rejection : todayilearned Before You Create a To-Do List For several years now, I have profited from using a “Master Task List.” This is a way to group your work-related activities so that you do what you were hired to do and keep from getting side-tracked by “trivial pursuits.” It is something you should develop before you start throwing together a to-do list. Photo courtesy of ©iStockphoto.com/SparkleArt I first learned this technique from Todd Duncan, whose book, Time Traps, published by Thomas Nelson, is a must read. It is subtitled, “Proven Strategies for Swamped Salespeople” but don’t let this put you off. “Master Tasking” is the process of identifying your five to seven most productive, most important work-related tasks. Here are some characteristics of master tasks: They are usually important but not urgent. They spell the difference between success and failure. You have a hard time getting to them. Master Tasking will enable you to become more productive, more successful, more confident, less frustrated, and less stressed.

Evernote and GTD First off I want to say that I've been a GTDer for about three years. I've used paper based GTD, electronic based GTD, and a combination of the two. Personally, I've found a combination of the two works best. The beauty of the GTD methodology is that it can be customized for most everyone. At it's core, GTD suggests using a series of lists called Next Actions, Someday/Maybe, and Projects. Evernote From the title you may have figured out that the software I'll be focusing on in this post is Evernote. Evernote and the Information Collection Phase While all five stages of mastering work flow mentioned in GTD are important, I'm going to talk about the first two phases; collecting and processing. With Evernote, you have the ability to create separate 'sheets of paper' for each desired outcome, or action step up to an infinite amount. Once the note is in Evernote, you are free to begin tagging the entry. One example of my saved searches is for open projects I have going on at work.

GTD Software - Helping you Get Things Done Common biases in socionics One of the challenges in creating objective statements about Socionics is that the very nature of the field invites the potential for bias. For a simple demonstration, consider someone trying to ascertain another person’s strong IM elements by asking "What do you think you can do better than everybody else?" The question itself reflects a competitive nature, which may not be equally shared by all people. Furthermore, it is likely that some types would phrase this question differently from others; and similarly, some socionic types would have an easier time responding to the question when phrased that way. Categories of potential causes for systemic biases in socionics include those shown in the table of contents below. Type, quadra, or dichotomy-centric biases Work by socionics theorists of a particular type or quadra may be subject to point-of-view biases inherent to their own type or quadra. Alpha-centrism An example of possible Alpha bias is that descriptions of and bias Similarly, ILE bias

11 Simple Tips To Effective Email Management | sfp101: Stress-Free Productivity By Celes ….. At the end of the day, email is just a tool for you to get your tasks done. Below are 11 tips to improve your email management: 1. Processing your mails once a day Even though I check my mail several times a day just to be in the loop (in case there’s something weird going on like my site is down, or if there’s an urgent request), I don’t process them right away. Set aside a daily time slot to process your emails. If you are in a working-level position where you get a lot of time-sensitive emails, you can still put this into practice. 2. Not all emails are the same. (To read more about 80/20 rule, read my detailed 3-part series on 80/20 Principle.) My 20% emails are the ones that give me the next breakthrough in my work. For the 20% emails, I give them significant priority. 3. File the mails that need your reply in a “Reply by XX Day” folder, where XX is the day of the week. 4. Despite what you think, you don’t need to reply to every mail. 5. 6. Continue Reading

Planning Printables Set of 20 Pages Daily by SuperSweetLife Brooklyn, New York's Red Hook Criterium By BikeRadar US | Monday, March 26, 2012 7.15pm A group of chase riders string it out in pursuit of leader Dan Chabanov Red Hook Criterium View Thumbnail Gallery With rain threatening, roughly 100 riders took the line for a mass start Red Hook night crit in Brooklyn, NY this past Saturday night, 24 March. With a 9:15pm start time, and variably lit ‘urban’ course around Brooklyn’s cruise ship terminal, the race is one part night crit, and one part alley cat race, that now holds infamous status. The Red Hook Crit used to be a pure alley cat (with racers dodging traffic as well as fellow competitors), however, now in its fifth edition the underground nature of the race has given way to big crowds and a unique draw to racers around the nation. This year, the first few laps were rough-and-tumble with riders fighting hard to establish a lead group. Three-time winner Dan Chabanov dumped the rest of the field about a third of the way through the 45-minute criterium and soloed to a 10-second victory

Is there such a thing as a sustainable todo system? | Ryan Waggoner It was summer of 2006 and we had just moved to San Francisco, sans jobs. I spent the summer job-hunting and doing a little freelance work, but mostly hacking on some side projects. I felt tremendously busy, but looking back, it was mostly self-imposed busyness stemming from boredom and the restlessness that comes from not having a job for months. As the items on my todo list grew, I became more and more stressed out. Finally, in a moment of desperation, I picked up a copy of Getting Things Done by David Allen and started down a really interesting road. Side note: for those of you that haven’t read the book, I highly recommend it, but this isn’t really a review. To boil the gist of GTD down into a single sentence: you must have a workable system for keeping track of your tasks and responsibilities that you always use, and thus grow to trust completely. Fast-forward to now, 4.5 years later. So I’m going to take three actions to hopefully improve the situation: Re-read Getting Things Done 1.

Specific holidays used to loom large in the world of coupon hunters, who expected to see massive discounts on July Fourth, Labor Day, Black Friday, and other big shopping days. 2. As the economy recovers, retailers are eager to pick up the biggest share of consumers' spending what they can, and in some cases, that means adopting more flexible pricing policies. 3. Much stress can come from disagreeing with your spouse or partner about how you should be spending shared income. 4. 5. Tax rates are likely to rise for many Americans next year, especially high-earning ones. 6. 7. 8.
