He now has built a digital clock that uses Dekatron (or decatron) tubes as displays." Decatrons feature a ring of cathodes driven by a control voltage. They were first introduced in 1950, and this is the first I've heard of them. They're the forefather of Nixie tubes, which usually contain ten cathodes in the shape of the numbers 0 through 9, and a wire mesh anode.

DIY: Swing Shelf
So…as you can see this pregger mama has been quite busy with all sorts of DIY projects that will complete the room being shared by kiddo #1 and kiddo #2. This project was quick and easy, plus it turned out really cute and was theme-appropriate for my lil’ surfer boys. I was inspired by the adorable Swing Shelf from Pottery Barn Kids (no longer available…bummer dude!). So, what’s a girl to do? I had to make it!! Here is the Pottery Barn Kids version ($69.00):

I could be biased, but I think Boyfriend and I might have made the coolest bookshelves in the history of all humankind. Some people look at it, cock their head to the side, and use words like “interesting” to describe it, but I personally think it could probably kick their bookshelves’ ass any day of the week. Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic. And I will admit you may need a certain vibe goin’ on in your house to pull this off properly, but still, I think they’re pretty awesome.

CRAFT: Bleach Art Tees (with Tulip Fabric Dye!)
I just came back from an eight-day cruise where we crafted, ate, and had as much fun as possible. I came home, unpacked and was excited to get crafty with some new t-shirts I bought for $8 each. The technical term for this technique is called "discharge dyeing", it's where you use bleach to remove color from fabric, but I like to think of it as "bleach art." I'm going to show you four ways that I used bleach to design some cool summer tees!
