Top 20 Most Influential Photographer Bloggers » Expert Photography I’ve written about gear, books, and websites. Now it’s time to talk about bloggers. This post is all about photographers who take time out of their busy schedule to blog in order to help other people learn. Finding the most influential photographer bloggers is no easy task, there’s no real scale to measure influence, it’s all about the most popular blogs and most talented photographers and I think i’ve just about done it. The order is put together depending on how much I use a site, how easy it is to navigate and how good the content is, but if you think we’ve missed a site you love, let us know in a comment at the bottom.

Stuart Firestein Stuart Firestein teaches students and “citizen scientists” that ignorance is far more important to discovery than knowledge. Why you should listen You’d think that a scientist who studies how the human brain receives and perceives information would be inherently interested in what we know. But Stuart Firestein says he’s far more intrigued by what we don’t.

About Vivian Maier A riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. Piecing together Vivian Maier’s life can easily evoke Churchill’s famous quote about the vast land of Tsars and commissars that lay to the east. A person who fit the stereotypical European sensibilities of an independent liberated woman, accent and all, yet born in New York City. Someone who was intensely guarded and private, Vivian could be counted on to feistily preach her own very liberal worldview to anyone who cared to listen, or didn’t.

My Shoes This Is the World As It Really Is, On Instagram Everyday, everywhere, nothing extraordinary is happening. Daily life, in all its mundaneness, is carrying on as usual. Halfway around the globe, the exact same thing you might see as you are walking down a street in your hometown is happening in someone else’s hometown. And yet we have rarely seen those moments around the world captured in documentary photography, despite their important part in telling a complete story. In the U.S., the visual exposure we often have to non-Western European nations has often been delivered in the form of very distinct, very dramatic, very foreign, and sometimes incomprehensible images.

Animated Cinemagraphs of City Life and Nature by Julien Douvier Strasbourg-based photographer Julien Douvier utlilizes a variety of techniques to create these beautifully meditative cinemagraphs of urban life and nature. He films and edits every image with an obsessive attention to detail, a fact not lost on several fashion clients that have commissioned Douvier to bring their brands to life recently. You can follow more of his personal and commerical work on Tumblr and on Behance. (via Designtaxi, Ignant)

This Student Designs Jewelry That Turns Your Veins Into A Power Source (Video) We’ve all been there: running out of power on your cell-phone with no prospect of a charger in the near future. It’s one of the most frightening possible scenarios for a lot of people these days. Naomi Kizhner, an Israeli graduate student, may have solved that problem. Naomi designs jewelry that harnesses your body’s energy to generate electrical power. Some of her devices are a little bit creepy- they are embedded into the wearer’s veins, and then use the wearer’s movements and blood flow to turn a small wheel inside the device, generating electricity.
