Insight: knowledge base for new technology and education
The Observatory is intended to highlight evidence in the area of innovation in education, especially: statistics evidence (e.g. Survey of Schools: ICT in Education)evidence from practice (and policy)evidence from research (e.g. literature review on the KeyCoNet project)Findings from surveys of end users in schools. European Schoolnet Observatory is primarily designed to provide evidence about the use of technology to improve teaching and learning for decision makers in Ministries of Education, practitioners in schools and other ICT in education professionals at national, regional or local level across Europe.

Tre förskolor i Botkyrka ingår i undersökningen.

Home In iTEC (Innovative Technologies for Engaging Classrooms, 2010-2014), European Schoolnet worked with education ministries, technology providers and research organisations to transform the way that technology is used in schools. Over the course of the project, educational tools and resources were piloted in over 2,500 classrooms across 20 European countries, with the goal of providing a sustainable model for fundamentally redesigning teaching and learning. The project involved 26 project partners, including 14 Ministries of Education, and funding of €9.45 million from the European Commission’s FP7 programme. Impact of ICTs on Learning & Achievement Guiding Questions: How are ICTs actually being used in education? What do we know about the impact of ICTs on student learning? What do we know about the impact of ICTs on student motivation and engagement for learning?

The Institute for Prospective Technological Studies Authors: Yves Punie, Dieter Zinnbauer, and Marcelino Cabrera EUR Number: Technical Note: JRC 47246 Publication date: 9/2008 Abstract There is evidence that ICT is having a positive impact on education and training in Europe. However, this depends a lot on how ICT is being used in educational institutions and by learners, also outside educational settings. Currently, it seems that ICTs are mostly used as tools to support and improve the existing learning processes and their administration, without deploying the transformative potential.

Composing and Decomposing Numbers One of the reasons I love teaching math is that it is so much different now than when I was in elementary school (Google paleolithic age for a frame of reference). Take composing and decomposing numbers. I don't remember ever "playing" with numbers. I learned to count, I learned to write my numbers, I learned addition and subtraction facts, but I don't remember ever learning that there are lots of ways to make 5, or any number for that matter. Study: iPad Apps Improve Learning First of its kind evidence shows that an iPad learning app can measurably deliver educational value. I’ve tested, rated, tried out, and put tons of educational iPad apps through their paces. Some are worthwhile, some are not worth your time. That’s why I was excited to read about a new study that attempted to figure out the actual effectiveness of iPad apps in learning. In a landmark study, a USC professor studied 122 fifth-graders from two schools and four math classes to assess the effectiveness of an iPad app for improving students’ fractions knowledge and attitudes. Heutagogy and lifelong learning: A review of heutagogical practice and self-determined learning Lisa Marie Blaschke Oldenburg University and University of Maryland University College (UMUC) Abstract Heutagogy, a form of self-determined learning with practices and principles rooted in andragogy, has recently resurfaced as a learning approach after a decade of limited attention. In a heutagogical approach to teaching and learning, learners are highly autonomous and self-determined and emphasis is placed on development of learner capacity and capability with the goal of producing learners who are well-prepared for the complexities of today’s workplace.
