Auch wurde bereits auf die Funktion der Inhalte und deren Formatierung im Rahmen eines Social Campaignings eingegangen, sowie dem gezielten Aufbau von Online-Crowds an Knotenpunkten des Internets. Im Folgenden soll die Bildung von solchen Online-Crowds – begünstigt durch die Verteilungsmechanismen im Internet – aus einer massenpsychologischen Perspektive betrachtet werden, da davon ausgegangen werden muss, dass grundlegende psychologische Muster des Menschen in der Online-Sphäre ebenso greifen, wie in der Offline-Sphäre.
