During the last few months a number of our Memolane fans have requested that we support Pinterest. For those of you that are unfamiliar with this service, it is basically a virtual pinboard where you can organize craft ideas, recipes, and your favorite inspirational pictures found on the web. One of our fans, Carrie McGann, has in fact found a way to elegantly display her curated Pinterest boards using Memolane. I was lucky enough to speak with her about how she was able to create stunning lanes. Think your Pinterest board is good enough to be featured on Memolane? Find out how and get all the pointers from Carrie in our interview below:

Tiki-Toki and Dipity are just two of the many options out there, but their varied features and impressive looking timelines make them a great choice for someone who is looking for a free, easy-to-use service. Whether you want to create a timeline with details down to the minute, or you’re looking to create a timeline spanning centuries, between these two services, you can include your own media, pull in data from social media sites like Flickr and Twitter, and of course manually enter your own data. Tiki-Toki Setting aside the fact that free accounts on Tiki-Toki do have their limitations, and the fact that the name of the service is bizarre, the easy to use interface, and professional looking final result makes Tiki-Toki a great choice for creating a timeline.

They are wrong. K-12 teachers have taken advantage of Twitter’s format to keep their classes engaged and up-to-date on the latest technologies.

The 100 Best Web 2.0 Classroom Tools Chosen By You One of the most popular posts on Edudemic in 2010 was The 35 Best Web 2.0 Classroom Tools Chosen By You and I felt it might be time for an update to that list for 2011. In order to put together a list of the best Web 2.0 classroom tools, I polled my Twitter followers, Facebook fans (are they still called fans? Likes?) and ran a contest to try and get as many submissions as possible. There were more than 900 submissions but many were duplicates. This left me with 100 different Web 2.0 tools that are recommended by your peers.

Do You Know The Real Cost Of Social Media? These days if you’re not using social media to build your brand then you’re way behind the times. But many companies are fooled into thinking that social media marketing is free, or at least close to free. A new infographic published on Focus.com uncovers some of the costs of using social media for marketing, from staff costs to external fees, advertising and more, and discusses whether the ROI makes social media spending worth the cost. 5 Tools For Making Custom Timelines Creating custom timelines is an age old school project, especially for history classes (since history is basically a giant timeline, after all!) Way back in the day, when I was a student, I remember drawing out my timelines with colored pencils on pieces of taped together construction paper (to make the line long enough). We’ve come a long way since the late ’80′s, and there are a lot of web tools and apps out there that help users make much more advanced timelines than I could crank out with my awesome colored pencils.
