Melbourne Home – Lucy King The Coburg home of illustrator Lucy King- all photos by Lucy King Today’s home belongs to talented local illustrator and crafter Lucy King! Remember I shared some of Lucy’s gorgeous work on the site here last year…? Her style is so painterly and sooo pretty! After many years designing illustrations and patterns for ceramic homewares, it’s no surprise that Lucy has a passion for vintage tableware! Lucy and her partner Darren have lived in their home in Coburg for 4 years. Lucy’s before shots! I hope you love the pics of Lucy’s gorgeous home as much as I do… HUGE thanks for Lucy for taking all these fab pics herself and emailing them through with minimal re-touching required from me (serious brownie points there!). Love those bright green retro vinyl dining chairs…! Omigod. Lucy’s home studio – sorry bit washed out… something odd happened in photoshop there… Love the cute wall-mounted magazine rack… OH what I wouldn’t do for a home office! More details from Lucy’s studio

Regards et Maisons emmas designblogg - design and style from a scandinavian perspective Sorry for being so quiet this week! I've had my head full of other work, so the little screen time I had was spent on working on my other projects. I'd like to wish you a happy weekend by giving you the links to two blogs I found this week, both connected to Finland in different ways. The first blog is called Annaleenas hem, written by a Finnish (at least that is what I conclude since her name is Finnish) fashion and interior stylist living in the Swedish countryside. The blog is full of wonderful photos of her and her friend's homes in a variety of styles. So no matter if you favor shabby chic, modern, retro or the colorful style, you can find something you like here. The second blog I discovered is Highway Design Blog, where the writer is based in Jakobstad, Finland, but the blog is written in Swedish (Finland's second official language).

my favorite apartment « Small Adventure After many years of collecting image after image of cool looking apartments and houses, this remains one of my top favorites. This is the two bedroom apartment of the band, Blonde Redhead. The two main singers are married, I believe, and were featured in Domino awhile back. I tore out and pasted these images into the very first pages of my inspiration notebook and not much else has topped it yet. I wouldn’t call their apartment amazing in any design-related context, but I really love that their apartment is clean, yet very casually put together with the use of such soft colors (even though I do enjoy brighter colors, too, and are probably more naturally attracted to them) and really awesome antiques and old wallpapers. Mobil*Home the style files jurianne matter ...we came home from Paris. Haven't had one spare moment to post about our little business trip. Here we go! Metro Abesses, a couple of minutes from our apartment. The streets - and the Sacré Coeur - around the corner. The night we arrived we went straight on to the Eiffeltower. On Saturday we visited some of the places you recommended. One of the must sees was Merci on Beaumarchais (see photo's above). On Sunday we were at the Maison et Objet Trade Fair, or 'le Salon' as the French call it.

Blog Archive » GOLD LEAF PAPER MACHE BOWLS So, I think this might be my favorite DIY to date. It’s just so practical and pretty! A few friends and I decided we would get together once a month for an all day craft day. Just to create pretty things, simply for the sake of creating. Weather it be something we wear, or something for our homes, decorations for the holidays, or even little somethings for our babies. I tend to get wrapped up in projects for other people that I fail to do all the projects I want to do for myself! We’ve been dying to try out gold leaf for a while now. ONE – To create your bowl forms, you’ll need to start with balloons. TWO – Cut up your newspaper into small strips. THREE – Place your balloons upside down (or right side up, whichever way you want to look at it) inside paper cups and let them dry overnight. FOUR – Once dry, pop your balloon and remove the latex. Paint your bowls entirely white (or any color of your choice). I wanted my bowls to have a polka dot pattern within the gold leaf.
