The Girl Who Loves to Levitate (14 photos) - My Modern Metropolis - StumbleUpon Natsumi Hayashi is a sweet-looking Japanese girl who, one day, decided to take self-portraits..of herself levitating. She can be spotted in and around Tokyo, equipped with her SLR and her self-timer. When she feels the moment strike, she presses the shutter button down and then, quite literally, "jumps" into place. What I love most about her shots is that they don't feel forced. Natsumi has a way of making us feel as though she naturally levitates throughout life. When I asked her how others react to her jumping around Tokyo, here is a funny story that she shared. "So I stopped jumping and apologized to them by saying, 'I am taking jumping photos for my wedding party's slide show.' "Then, I took one of the best levitation shots of the entire series." Mountains of Books Become Mountains I thought I’d seen every type of book carving imaginable, until I ran across these jaw dropping creations by Guy Laramee. His works are so sculptural, so movingly natural in their form, they’ve really touched me. Early in his path, he used to work as a portraitist on Arbat Street in order earn some income during the crisis period in Russia. Crucial point in his life path was an exhibition at Colburg, Germany Kush realized in 1990. First days in LA were difficult, as the artist was compelled to create in a tiny, rented garage space, without much success in finding a gallery. Vladimir Kush was discovered by a French art dealer in 1993, who organized his first big exhibition in Hong Kong, introducing his original approach to surreal to the art market.
