Move Your Body, Grow Your Brain Editor's note: This post is co-authored by Marcus Conyers who, with Donna Wilson, is co-developer of the M.S. and Ed.S. Brain-Based Teaching degree programs at Nova Southeastern University. They have written several books, including Five Big Ideas for Effective Teaching: Connecting Mind, Brain, and Education Research to Classroom Practice.
Storage options MindMup supports several storage options for your maps. They have hugely different capabilities and constraints. Once a map is modified, the toolbar and menu bar show the save button. The icon next to Save shows the currently selected storage option. Clicking on Save (blue) button directly will save to that storage. Clicking on the icon will open a drop-down with storage options, and allow you to select an alternative option for storage. In one ear out of the other: how knowing about memory might help us in the classroom In each case, the reason for such behaviour in class was generally attributed to a short attention span or a belief that these are pupils who are easily distracted. When asked about achievement, it was also these same learners made poor academic progress. This may seem obvious - poor classroom learning behaviour and the link to lowered rates of attainment - but is there something else? Inclusive classrooms As part of a research project to develop inclusive approaches to teaching in mainstream classes, I have been able to work with teachers to investigate and develop ways to enable learners who find classroom learning challenging to become more successful. Within the project and as part of their professional practice, teachers tried out a range of different approaches, reflected on the impact and measured changes in pupil performance.
Here’s How Managers Can Be Replaced by Software Fortune 500 executives spend a fair amount of time thinking about how automation and the Internet are changing the nature of employment, but they rarely wonder how technology will have an impact much closer to home: on their own jobs. For the last several years, we have been studying the forces now shaping the future of work, and wondering whether high-level management could be automated. This inspired us to create prototype software we informally dubbed “iCEO.” As the name suggests, iCEO is a virtual management system that automates complex work by dividing it into small individual tasks. iCEO then assigns these micro-tasks to workers using multiple software platforms, such as oDesk, Uber, and email/text messaging. Basically, the system allows a user to drag-and-drop “virtual assembly lines” into place, and run them from a dashboard.
MATLAB - The Language of Technical Computing MATLAB® is a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Using MATLAB, you can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications. The language, tools, and built-in math functions enable you to explore multiple approaches and reach a solution faster than with spreadsheets or traditional programming languages, such as C/C++ or Java™. You can use MATLAB for a range of applications, including signal processing and communications, image and video processing, control systems, test and measurement, computational finance, and computational biology.
Object-oriented programming Overview Rather than structure programs as code and data, an object-oriented system integrates the two using the concept of an "object". An object has state (data) and behavior (code). Objects correspond to things found in the real world.
