Don’t date a girl who travels! — Better Humans
She’s the one with the messy unkempt hair colored by the sun. Her skin is now far from fair like it once was. Not even sun kissed. It’s burnt with multiple tan lines, wounds and bites here and there. But for every flaw on her skin, she has an interesting story to tell. Don’t date a girl who travels. Don’t date a girl who travels because she will bug you to book a flight every time there’s an airline seat sale. Chances are, she can’t hold a steady job. Don’t date a girl who travels. Don’t date a girl who travels for she has chosen a life of uncertainty. Don’t date a girl who travels as she tends to speak her mind. She will never need you. So never date a girl who travels unless you can keep up with her. Related:  Insightful

So, What Exactly Is Performance Art? | Artparasites - Art Magazine, Art Events, Trending Galleries When people haggle over the legitimacy of contemporary art, there are two main targets: abstract expressionist painting (“my kid could do that”) and performance art. Even reading the words "performance art," my guess is that you conjure up the image of two naked individuals pressed up against a wall blowing bubbles and clapping intermittently. Why two naked individuals pressed up against a wall blowing bubbles? It is Reduction When I think of performance art, three pieces come to mind: Vito Acconci masturbating under the stairs in “Seedbed,” Chris Burden getting shot in the arm by a friend during “Shoot, 1971,” and Joseph Beuys spending eight hours a day, for three days, in a cage with a coyote for “I Like America and America Likes Me.” This brings us to the first commandment of performance art: performance art is a reduction; a stripping away of the trappings of social convention and civilization itself. It Is Memorable But wait, you may say—I’ve seen naked women. It Is Live

Koalas Are Not a Type of Bear Koala “bears” aren’t a type of bear at all, as it turns out, and their non-scientific name doesn’t include “bear” on the end, as is commonly spoken outside of Australia by the English speaking world. They are simply “Koalas”. So if they aren’t a member of the family Ursidae (bears), what are they? In fact, they are marsupials, along with kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, and possums, among others. The name “Koala Bear” is thought to come from English speaking settlers around the 18th century. While Koala’s may look cuddly, they are anything but. Another myth surrounding Koala’s is that they sleep most of the day because they are intoxicated by the eucalyptus leaves they eat. Bonus Facts: Koalas are the only surviving member of the family Phascolarctidae, with all the other types of animals in that family having become extinct.Phascolarctos comes from the Greek word for “pouch”.Koalas almost never need to drink water, getting sufficient water from the leaves they eat. My 48-Hour Liquid Fast Posted June 12, 2012 I have been wanting to do an all liquid cleanse for quite a while now, and now that I am not bound by the strict eating schedule of Gerson Therapy I have had the chance to do it. As those of you who are familiar with Gerson know, it is two years of constant eating and drinking. While this is a powerful healing regime, I felt like my system could do with a bit of a break. Why do a liquid fast? Digestion takes up so much of our body’s energy. When we are constantly feeding ourselves, our bodies are constantly in digestion mode and aren’t able to do other jobs like healing, repairing and rejuvenating. Fun fact: Did you know that if you had a big meal and then did exercise straight after, the food you just ate would not be properly digested? The point of the story is that when our bodies aren’t busy digesting, they can get to work on other important tasks like healing. Here’s what my 48 hours of nothing but liquid included: + Six juices each day. 1. 2. 3. join the tribe

Saving the Lost Art of Conversation - Megan Garber In a fast-paced digital age, an MIT psychologist tries to slow us down. John Cuneo “I am going to be a little boring,” Sherry Turkle announces as we sit down to tea in the living room of her sprawling Boston townhouse. “And you’re going to be a little boring, too.” Turkle, for the record, is not boring. This tech critic, however, is not tech-phobic. As we chat, it becomes clear that Turkle is not just not boring—she’s an exceptionally skilled conversationalist. Turkle is at work on a new book, aspirationally titled Reclaiming Conversation, which will be a continuation of her thinking in Alone Together. “I can’t, in restaurants, not watch families not talking to each other,” Turkle tells me. Her methods are contagious; once you start noticing what Turkle notices, you can’t stop. The conclusion she’s arrived at while researching her new book is not, technically, that we’re not talking to each other. Occasional dullness, in other words, is to be not only expected, but celebrated.
