Eye Sharpening - Photoshop Tutorial - 416 Studios With this tutorial you can create amazing, bright eyes within minutes. First retouch, adjust levels and do all necessary colour corrections on your image. With a Lasso Tool (L) select the eyes (hold Shift key to add to selection). Hit Ctrl+J to copy selection to a new layer. Use Smart Sharpen filter on the eyes, the choice of right settings will depend on the size of your file. Add a layer mask to the sharpened layer, then using a white soft brush on 50% bring back paint only iris’ and pupils to expose the sharpened eyes. Using levels brighten the whole picture and then copy mask from previous layer to select only eyes by holding Alt while dragging the sharpened mask (“layer 1” in the pic) onto the “levels 2” layer. With a Colour Balance set desired eye colour, keep “Preserve Luminosity” ticked, again use copy of previously created mask to select eyes only. Reduce opacity of the colour layer to make the eyes look more natural. And voilà, the image is ready.
I Love Photoshop: Basic Retouch and Colorization This tutorial will show you how to do a basic retouch, change the colorcast of an image and colorize some of its elements. Step 1. We will use this Naomi Watts image: Duplicate the layer then go to Filter -> Noise -> Median...and enter a value of around 3 pixels. Step 2. After you finish this step, you should get something like this: Step 3. Step 4. Reds: -55 0 0 0 Neutrals: -20 +15 –40 +5 Now paint with white over the lips and you will notice they’ll turn a light pink. Step 5. Yellows: -100 0 0 0 Whites: 0 0 0 –25 Neutrals: +20 –10 –50 +8 Fill its mask with black and carefully paint with white over the eyes. Step 6. Finally, go to Image -> Canvas Size… and choose black as a color, 40 pixels for both Width and Height to add a stylish outer border. The final result:

Fill your canvas with 343030. Paste in your ‘foggy city’ photo, positioning it at the bottom of your canvas: Now apply a layer mask, and use a large, soft black paintbrush at around 20% opacity to mask off the top of your city photo, blending it into your main background: Now apply a hue/saturation adjustment layer to your cityscape layer (using a clipping mask). Hue/Saturation Adjustment Layer Settings: Hue: 0 Saturation: -100 Lightness: 0 Step 2 Now repeat step 1, but add some cloudy sky (see the resources section for this tutorial) to the top of your canvas: Step 3 Now download the rust texture found in the resources section for this tutorial. In 2011 Rob Bowen, a graphic designer, set out to create a dual set of freebies using Waldseemuller’s world map, a set of vectors and a set of Photoshop brushes.
