Get drunk without going broke: Singapore's cheapest happy hours When your depleting wallet cries out for mercy, drown your sorrows and drink. Our guide has made it possible to indulge without feeling the pinch, just the booze. No.5 Emerald Hill This Orchard Road staple is one of the best, because happy hour is all-day, every day with $7 housepours (mind you, it’s a gentleman’s pour, which is 45ml instead of the standard 30ml) and $9 house wines until 9pm daily. Loof What's better than leaving the office early? House of Dandy It’s rare to find a proper cocktail bar with happy hours, but this swank Tras Street establishment introduced a happy hour in January. Tanuki Raw Happening from 5-8pm daily, this popular happy hour offers $10 martinis and pints. The Vault The revamped Circular Road staple is back in full force with their great happy hour deal: from 3-9pm, selected beers and spirits are only $5. Sauce An economical way to get smashed here: $60 gets you unlimited access to their four-hour long daily cocktail buffet. The Exchange Outpost

Instruments Played by the Ocean Image from the 1884 "Atlantic Ocean Pilot" (via British Library) The ocean has a rich rhythm, but it's something that's hard for us humans on land to connect with. Yet in three different places we can hear this movement through music. SEA ORGANZadar, Croatia photograph by Mike Reger Zadar, Croatia, has its Sea Organ leading right into the water. Some people say the sounds are like whale calls, but whatever they are is haunting and airy with a touch of melancholy. photograph by EyeofJ/Flickr user THE WAVE ORGANSan Francisco, California photograph by Simon Gibson Over in the San Francisco Bay, the 1986 Wave Organ is the Sea Organ's precursor. Personality, budget-friendly luxury on Lonely Planet’s first top hotels list | Compass Mihir Gahr topped Lonely Planet's inaugural top hotels list. (Photo: James Kay / Lonely Planet) With its diverse first-ever list of the world’s top places to stay, Lonely Planet has a message for travelers: You don’t need to pay a lot to enjoy a memorable experience. The winners are as varied as they are over the top. The number one property on the UK-based travel publisher’s 10 “most extraordinary places to stay” list is Mihir Garh, in the vast Thar Desert near Jodhpur, India. The turreted buff-colored building with crenellated square towers looks, in Lonely Planet’s words, “like an enormous sandcastle.” Of course, special doesn’t always come cheap; a suite at Mihir Garh costs about $400 US a night (including meals), while others go for $350 to $600 or even higher. The Backpack in Cape Town, South Africa, was No. 1 among best value options. Tom Hall, editor of Lonelyplanet.com, said value for money was as important as any other factor in evaluating the properties.
