Telecomix

Telecomix
Telecomix is a sociocyphernetic telecommunist feminist cluster of internet and data loving bots and people, always striving to protect and improve the internet and defend the free flow of data. Telecomix, just like the Internet, knows no borders technological or territorial. We have no specific agenda, IRCocratic leadership and no pre-determined practices. We are an occurance rather than a group; a siphonophoric organism transmitting its genome through memes and imitation rather than through rules and regulations. We are in love with the internet, we call this datalove , and if you want, you can join us simply by stepping into our chat below. A lot of our work takes place in sub-clusters, autonomous groups spawned from the main Telecomix organism.

REDHACK Voice of the oppressed! “Before we begin, I’d like to ask you when your penguin documentary will be on. Hello friends, comrades, the ones who defend the indivisible unity of the trees, how are you? When we hear “Gezi Park,” it represents to us how the media is censored, how auto censoring has been developed, very clearly. The fact that we are speaking out to our friends at Halk TV (channel), who have witnessed the events the entire time, is also a reaction, a response to the media who thinks, “don’t touch me and I won’t touch you”. We would like to thank the media workers who have put an end to this censoring, who have heard the voice of the resistance. There has been an attempt to display the truth of the resistance on several channels.

Jaron Lanier: The Internet destroyed the middle class Jaron Lanier is a computer science pioneer who has grown gradually disenchanted with the online world since his early days popularizing the idea of virtual reality. “Lanier is often described as ‘visionary,’ ” Jennifer Kahn wrote in a 2011 New Yorker profile, “a word that manages to convey both a capacity for mercurial insight and a lack of practical job skills.” Raised mostly in Texas and New Mexico by bohemian parents who’d escaped anti-Semitic violence in Europe, he’s been a young disciple of Richard Feynman, an employee at Atari, a scholar at Columbia, a visiting artist at New York University, and a columnist for Discover magazine. He’s also a longtime composer and musician, and a collector of antique and archaic instruments, many of them Asian. His book continues his war on digital utopianism and his assertion of humanist and individualistic values in a hive-mind world.
