Concrete Leveling & Lifting | National PolyLevel® Contractor Network Running Tracks & Playgrounds Built on Chinese School Rooftops - chinaSMACK From QQ: Just as the new school year has started, news of a track field built on top of a primary school’s roof in Tiantai County in Zhejiang province attracted a lot of attention. Many people questioned the safety of a rooftop track field. Some people are concerned the railings are not strong enough while others fear that a thousand students on the rooftop can cause the building to collapse. A rooftop track field may look as if it is merely adapting to local needs, representing a daring and innovative design, it instead reveals the phenomenon of insufficient land for the construction of schools in recent years, and this phenomenon is most often seen at schools serving the children of migrant workers that already lack teachers and funding. On 2014 September 1, Zhejiang Tiantai Country Cicheng No. 2 Elementary School’s rooftop oval athletic track officially went into use, with students running and playing on the circular track for the first time. No Grading, More Learning When Duke University's Cathy Davidson announced her grading plan for a seminar she would be offering this semester, she attracted attention nationwide. Some professors cheered, others tut-tutted, and others asked "Can she do that?" Her plan? Turn over grading to the students in the course, and get out of the grading business herself. Now that the course is finished, Davidson is giving an A+ to the concept. Davidson is becoming a scholar of grading. But it was her own course this semester -- called "Your Brain on the Internet" -- that Davidson used to test her ideas. Her approach -- first announced on her blog -- works based on contracts and "crowdsourcing." So how did it work? She said that the students each ended up writing about 1,000 words a week, much more than is required for a course to be considered "writing intensive" at Duke (even though her course didn't have that designation). Her responsibility as an instructor didn't evaporate in this system, Davidson stressed, but changed.

Amazon Go grocery store of the future: PHOTOS, VIDEO - INSIDER Amazon DisclaimerGet real-time AMZN charts here » Amazon plans to break into physical retail in a new way. The online retail giant revealed a concept for a physical store in a video published Monday. The store, called Amazon Go, doesn't work like a typical Walmart or supermarket — instead, it's designed so that shoppers will use an app, also called Amazon Go, to automatically add the products they plan to buy to a digital shopping cart; they can then walk out of the building without waiting in a checkout line. The idea is that Amazon's machine-learning technology can automatically identify when a product is added to your cart, so you don't have to do it yourself. The stores will sell ready-made food, staples like bread and milk, and other grocery products. Amazon internal plans show it could build 2,000 grocery stores across the US in the next decade, Business Insider previously reported. The first Amazon Go store is scheduled to open to the public in Seattle early next year.

Mobile Market Research & Audits | Field Agent UK Умная школа The constantly changing world means that people need to be equipped to learn for the duration of their lives, adapt to new realities, and be at home in any cultural or social context. An educational system that prepares children for adulthood in just one social system is ineffective in these modern conditions, where forms of social organization are actively interchangeable.
