Whiz Kids At a time when American teens lag far behind other countries in math and science, WHIZ KIDS is a coming-of-age documentary that tells the story of three remarkably different yet equally passionate 17-year-old scientists who vie to compete in the nation's oldest, most prestigious science competition. Win or lose, these ‘whiz kids’ raise questions about class, courage, personal sacrifice, success and failure, and in the process, learn as much about themselves as they do about science. Over the past eight years, countries like China and India vastly increased support for research and development, while U.S. funding remained largely stagnant. Not surprisingly, U.S. teens now rank 24th in the world in math and science. As global economies become increasingly competitive, America's future rests on the shoulders of our next generation. The main characters in WHIZ KIDS demonstrate that American students can meet that challenge.

NYC Cosmetic Dermatologist - Skin Care Expert | Dr. Debra Jaliman, New York Dermatologist Why Do Affluent Consumers Connect with Brands on Social Networks? Luxury marketers take note, according to a February 2011 Affluence Collaborative survey, wealthy internet users connect with brands on social networks for significantly different reasons than the general population. The social networks they use to do so are different, too. Among the general population, the main reason cited for connecting with brands on social networks was to receive deals and discounts. This result from the Affluence Collaborative survey backs up earlier research from several sources on why consumers follow brands on social sites. But according to Affluence Collaborative, this was a much lower priority for the wealthy. Their top reasons for following brands were due to a preexisting affinity for and a desire to be kept informed about the brand. These findings coincide with earlier research from ExactTarget, which showed that a huge component of liking a brand on Facebook was due not just to an affinity, but as a means of self-expression for others to see.

Science Stage 9 Things You Didn't Know About Benjamin Franklin It's Fun Friday -- time for some fun for the weekend. Enjoy today's post and I'll see you back here on Monday with more philatelic news and notes. United States, 1938Scott #803 In 1938, the United States issued a set of definitive postage stamps featuring images of the nation's first 29 presidents. For those not familiar with fractional postage, some types of U.S. mail required a partial cent, even though there was no coinage for half cents in use in the United States at the time. The first stamp (in denomination order) is the half-cent Benjamin Franklin issue. Many people know that Ben Franklin supported having the turkey as the national emblem for the United States, as opposed to the majestic Bald Eagle, and know that he invented the lightning rod, but do you know these facts? He never once sought public office. Previous Fun Friday Posts

Role of topical peptides in preventing or treating aged skin - Gorouhi - 2009 - International Journal of Cosmetic Science Signal peptides Signal peptides stimulate matrix protein production in general and collagen synthesis in specific. They may be accomplished by stimulation and growth of different skin cells like human skin fibroblasts. Signal peptides can also increase elastin, proteoglycan, glycosaminoglycans and fibronectin proliferation. By increasing matrix cell activities and consequently collagen production, the skin looks firmer and younger. The tripeptide-1 (glycyl-l-histidyl-l-lysine or GHK) is primarily known as carrier peptides. Tripeptide-1 can be also conjugated with palmitic acid and form pal-tripeptide-1 (Biopeptide-CL). Palmitoyl tripeptide-3/5 (Syn®-Coll; Pentapharm, Basel, Switzerland) is a synthetic signal peptide. Tripeptide-10 Citrulline (Decorinyl™; Centerchem) is a peptide with firming effects and mimics the sequences of decorin that binds to collagen fibrils. Aquaporin is an epidermal water channel peptide that is upregulated by the extract of Ajuga turkestanica. Carrier peptide

From The Front Row / Dolce & Gabbana Cliquez ici pour voir toutes les images. Samedi, 14h, l’heure du show Dolce & Gabbana.
