My Marlin 336 Customized Survival Rifle - Shooting Sports Forum This is a copy of a thread I started on SurvivalistBoards.com about the modifications I made to my 336.... I will be adding the rest of the pictures and info over the next few weeks. First a little info on the rifle. It's a Marlin 336W in 30.30 that I bought in 02' I have made several modifications to it like adding an XS systems sight rail, an Aimpoint red dot sight, an Aimpoint 3X magnifier and a custom made paracord rifle sling. I also replaced the stock with a Ramline synthetic stock. This is what I put in the kit: a signal mirror, a Swedish fire steel, a fishing yo yo, a water filter straw, some tin foil, and some bubble wrap. The pics at the bottom of this post show the process and how everything worked out. I put these things in my rifle after considering what I would need to have with me if I got lost while hunting. Now I can signal, start a fire, hunt, cook, trap, and have an alarm just by having my rifle with me. The paracord rifle sling lets me carry 80' of usable 550 paracord.
