Pattern: Puff Stitch Scarf

Pattern: Puff Stitch Scarf
My mom absolutely loved the beautiful puff stitches of the crocheted slouchy beanies I made for myself and my brother and sister. Because my mom does not wear hats, she asked if I could make her a scarf using puff stitches! I thought this was a great idea as I loved the texture and staggered rows of these stitches, so I knew that a scarf using them would turn out beautifully! My mom and I went to Michaels together to pick out the yarn for her scarf. I made up my own pattern for this scarf and started off making a series of 26 chain stitches. Next I worked 12 puff stitches in the first row with ch-1’s in between. Then I worked twelve puff stitches in the chain-1 spaces. I continued with this simple pattern for a couple more rows… And then many more rows… Until the scarf was our desired length! Can you guess how many balls of yarn I used? My mom wanted her scarf quite long. Here is the very simple pattern I made up for this Puff Stitch Scarf. Materials: 5 mm crochet hookYarn (medium weight)

DIY Lip Balm | This fun recipe will give you a great organic lip balm! All you need are a few simple ingredients. You can add in more essential oils to this recipe if you want to, or other things you think would go well with the “recipe”. This will make 3 lip balms. You’ll need: 1/4 cup of beeswax3 tbs organic shea butter2 tbs organic safflower oil2 tsp essential oil (I used peppermint)3 containers Microwave the beeswax, shea butter and safflower oil until it has turned into a liquid. Once all melted, mix in your essential oils, and some food colouring if you want it. Pour all of this into your containers and let cool. Create your own little label like I did, or just leave it blank. Have fun! I made chapstick already last year, but wasn’t overly happy with the recipe, so I tried a different one this year. I used: 20% beeswax 25% coconut oil 15% cocoa butter 40% olive oil No coloring, no scent, no smell. The process is very simple: 1. 2. 3. Done! Like this: Like Loading...

Gorgeous Chiffon and Tulle Flowers - DIY: Gorgeous Chiffon and Tulle Flowers Photos By: Olivia Kanaley For this project you will need fabric - we used chiffon and tulle. Yardage needed will vary based on the number and size of flowers, as well as the fabric thickness. To make a stencil first free hand a rose petal shape and cut out. Take some fabric and fold it into a square a little larger than your flower pattern. Stack flower cut outs, alternating fabric types and staggering petals. Pinch together the center of the flower (from the bottom) and secure with stitches to create volume and give the flower and authentic shape. If desired you can sew decorative beads in the inside center of the flower. Finally, sew the flower to a hair clip or comb. You can also create a tie-on corsage or sash, by sewing one or more flowers to a length of silk ribbon.

Especially when that nasty gremlins try to creep in and stump me. I remembered this origami star video on You Tube and had to get them involved in my plan. I thought it would be fun to make a whole bunch with kind words and “you are….” phrases inside. I used 12 x 12 inch scrapbook paper and cut 1/2 x 12″ strips, then followed the video HERE*. *UPDATE! Re-Vamp your Friendship Bracelets! No, this tutorial does not have you making any type of designer DIY! It's a simple tutorial to make cool the-dye friendship braided bracelets. I came up with this idea when trying to get a more dainty tie-dye effect, instead of just using those thick strands of embroidery floss. This tutorial is simple, but just a bit tedious. The results are very pretty though! Step 1: Gather materials. Step 2: Cut your embroidery floss. Step 3: Group all of your individual threads into 3 big groups, making sure you get a variant amount of colors in each group. Knot at the end, when it's long enough to tie on your wrist. Make them in a variety of colors! To add charms, simply place charms on a jumping and add in the middle of your braid. You are finished! I made a set out of my three friendship bracelets, with coordinating charms. If you share/use/post this tutorial, please link back to me.
