Lo studio d'architettura russo Arch Group ha appena ultimato lo Sleepbox Hotel Tverskaya, un hotel moscovita del tutto particolare, che al posto delle stanze ha appunto le Sleepbox, scatole di quattro metri quadrati complete di letto, luci per la lettura e prese elettriche per ricaricare tutti i nostri device. A seconda della dimensione poi cambia anche il colore: un bianco hi-tech per le singole e un più gradevole color legno per le doppie. L'idea in realtà è nata nel 2009 quando la prima Sleepbox ha fatto la sua comparsa nell'aeroporto Sheremetyevo di Mosca. Chris Jordan’s Wave Illustrates Ocean Garbage Photographic artist Chris Jordan never ceases to amaze us with his clever pieces that allow people to “see” concepts that are often difficult to visualize. We submit for your viewing pleasure, his latest work, Gyre. Look familiar? The 8′ x 11′ triptych is based on the famous Japanese painting, “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” by Hokusai. Instead of paint, the colors are composed of 2.4 million pieces of plastic – the estimated number of pounds of plastic that enter the world’s ocean’s every hour! Gyre is the first image in a mini-series that Jordan is creating about the Pacific Garbage Patch, and is named after the Pacific Gyre, a thousand miles wide ocean current which turns clockwise like a giant slow-motion whirlpool and concentrates tons of the world’s trash. Crusty Bread Jan. 1, 2015: Just released. Instructional video for the Crusty Bread recipe. Crusty Bread 3 cups unbleached all purpose flour 1 3/4 teaspoons Kosher salt 1/2 teaspoon Instant or Rapid-rise yeast 1 1/2 cups water In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, salt and yeast. I must begin by saying where the recipe originated, if in fact it originated anywhere...really. Remember before beginning to create, that this bread is highly forgiving. You do NOT have to have an enamel covered cast iron pot. You DO NOT need to oil the pot. In a large mixing bowl add 3 cups white unbleached flour. To the flour add 1 3/4 teaspoon salt (I use kosher I like it) and 1/2 teaspoon rapid rise or instant yeast. Whisk the flour, salt and yeast together. Add 1 1/2 cups water. Mix in the water. That's it! Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it set for 12 - 18 hours on the counter top. After 12 hours the dough will look like this. Meet my blue Le Creuset. Now, please disregard that this dough has stuff in it.
