Crash Hot Potatoes It is EASY and it is TASTY. Boil potatoes, smash them, cover them with olive oil, salt, and rosemary, and bake them until they’re crispy. There. Now you know how to make them. The Pioneer Woman uses New Potatoes, and I think those are a good choice. I, however, used regular organic russets, but small ones. In November I bought a pressure cooker, and I adore it. Also, keep in mind that this recipe does require a good deal of oil and salt to be tasty. Crash Hot Potatoes Makes as many as you please Several Smallish Potatoes, red or russet Salt Pepper Olive Oil 2-3 Sprigs Rosemary Preheat oven to 450º F. Scrub the potatoes clean. Place the cooked potatoes on a baking sheet drizzled with olive oil. Make an X cut on the top of each potato for easier squishing. Once smashed, generously sprinkle salt over each potato. Bake the potatoes at 450º F for 20-25 minutes, longer is better as long as they’re not burning. Thanks, Pioneer Woman, for the awesome recipe!

Pernilla Alm | Just another WordPress.com site Daily Five/ Literacy Centers Overview of the Daily 5 Program used during my Reader’s Workshop © The 2 Sisters Boushey & Moser I have incorporated the components of this program during my literacy centers time. I start my Reader’s Workshop time with a mini-lesson (5-10 minutes). I’ve done literacy centers for years but struggled with the quality of work students were doing (while I was reading with my small groups), the time spent on task, and the time spent playing games, reviewing skills vs. reading. The best part about using the Daily 5 components: Students spend most of their time READING to themselves, READING with others, and listening to fluent and expressive READING! After the mini-lesson, students select 2-3 choices (depending on time) for Reader’s Workshop that day. I have a chart where students make their choice. Choice #1: Read to Self We have an anchor chart we created together as a class to define what this should look like and what the students and teacher will do during this time. Choice #5: Word Work

Butterscotch Milkshakes with Chocolate Peanut Butter Hot Fudge I made us milkshakes! Milkshakes with chocolate peanut butter fudge sauce…. Butterscotch sauce! It is truly as incredible as it sounds. It is also the quintessential summer drink. But I did not make these because it’s summer. No siree, I made them with my dad in mind. Okay, since it is Friday and my brain feels literally fried we’re gonna get right to it today. Nothing serious and no messing around. Although, this is a SERIOUS milkshake. The base of the milkshake is vanilla ice cream blended with some easy homemade butterscotch sauce, a little milk, a little vanilla extract and if you’re into it, a little splash of scotch or whiskey. Can I just say, the milkshake alone is out of this world!! Oh and adding the splash of scotch? So I said you COULD stop there, not you should. No, you should definitely go on because it gets better! Chocolate peanut butter fudge sauce. Ah huh. Here’s what you do. First, you have to make the butterscotch, but I promise it’s so easy and takes only five minutes. Next? Now?

Diy Scalp Treatment One of the first things we learned in cosmetology school was how to do a scalp treatment, and for good reason. For all the benefits they provide, I think it’s crazy they aren’t a regular part of our “beauty” routines. We’ll scrub, rub, and moisturize every square inch of our body, but the scalp tends to be neglected. Of all the at home diy treatments you can do, a scalp treatment is of the easiest – and seriously one of the best. They feel amazing, get rid of flakes, and promote fast and healthy hair growth. Diy All Natural Scalp Treatment I have a friend from childhood that was my ever faithful guinea pig during beauty school. Before we talk about the how, let’s talk about the why. Why Scalp Treatments Are Important Here are just a few reasons that a scalp treatment should be a part of your regular beauty routine: Removes product build up (even shampoo and conditioner build up)Relieves dry, flaky, tight skin from winter monthsTreats dandruffStimulates the scalp to speed up hair growth

Undressed Skeleton Loading… Vegan Egg Substitutes Any vegan who’s wanted to transform a favorite baked good into a vegan treat knows that the hardest part is finding an egg replacer that eliminates the egg without eliminating the taste. It’s a tall order, especially when you consider that eggs have several jobs when it comes to baking. They add moisture, hold the treat together, and they have some leavening (or rising) power as well. The fact is that there are a number of vegan-friendly egg replacers. Here’s your guide to replacing eggs in your favorite vegan baked treats: Unsweetened applesauce Not only does it act as a binding agent, it also adds needed moisture to baked items. ¼ cup = one egg Ground flaxseed This super-source of Omega 3 fatty acids is an ideal egg replacer. 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed + 3 tablespoons of water = one egg Mashed banana This supermarket standby is an excellent binding ingredient that’s long been used in baking. Tofu Made from fresh soybeans, tofu adds a creamy texture to puddings, pies, muffins, and cakes.

Gourmet Style Dipped Apples with Homemade Caramel | Our Best BitesOur Best Bites It’s okay, you can say it. I’m a liar. I really did have an actual meal for you today. But then I went grocery shopping. Apple-zilla. I am not joking when I say these are the biggest apples I’ve ever seen in my LIFE. How could I not get them?? We’ve got a couple of posts on caramel apples already. Making dipped apples isn’t complicated, but I can tell you it is so, so much easier with a few tricks, so I’m going to give you all of the ones I’ve got! Go ahead and place the sticks in the apples, placing them right where the stem comes out. It also helps to get all of your toppings ready before you even start. For the caramel, you’ll need all of this yummy stuff. One of the reasons I was attracted to this recipe was because all of the flavor in there. And stir it until everything is melted and dissolved. When you’re choosing a bowl to put your cooked caramel in, choose the smallest bowl possible that will fit all of the caramel; that will make dipping easier. Be creative and have fun!
