I’ve received a lot of compliments on this easy rendition of the once popular Edwardian hairstyle, and I keep thinking to myself that Victorian is in right now and I should share this simple style. But it wasn’t until a make up artist stopped me in a coffee shop in Traverse City asking me how that I finally put my foot down. As soon as I get back from Ireland, I thought. Well today it’s snowing up a storm outside and I don’t have everything I need to bake the muffins I wanted, so here we are! What You Need ★ comb ★ hair tie (it doesn’t really matter what color) ★ bobby pins ★ roller (optional) What You Do Pull your hair into a ponytail. Using A Roller Using a roller instead of your finger is also an option. It’s definitely handy, but be careful, because I’ve found that sometimes it’s hard to unroll it without your hair getting stuck all over the place. Sorry the video is hazy and slightly out of focus. Update: I’ve decided that the Gibson Tuck is way more fun with shorter hair.

Sweet twist and pin variation This is another of my favourite twist and pin updos. It’s deceptively simple to do and looks both sweet and stylish. Like the French roll twist and pin, this is a great hairstyle for when you are don’t have time to dry your hair. You can easily do this style in wet hair and it will dry with a nice wave in the ends. You can even cheat by just blowdrying the top of your hair to keep it smooth. Hair product tips Starting with wet hair? Step by step Part your hair on the side.Take a small section of hair at the left behind your ear and twist and pin on your neckline.Do the same twist and pin behind your right ear and pin on your neckline. Then separate the rest of your hair into equal sections and repeat, twisting into little buns and pinning on the nape of your neck. Through many attempts I found that if you do the left and right first, it’s easier to keep a straight line. As always I recommend using good hair pins in the same colour as your hair. Related posts:

Hair how to: tousled flapper bob hairstyle It’s no news when we say that the 1920s have had a significant impact on the fashion industry. It started with accessories, clothes, and then moved on to beauty, as wine-tinted lips and fluttering eyelashes hoarded many an advertisement campaign. With the anticipated release of Baz Luhrmann’s remake of The Great Gatsby, the period has taken another deep-end dive into the ocean of hairstyles. The 1920s tousled bob is one such look that once waved the flag for being primped and pristine with its disciplined finger waves. But in 2012, we’ve seen it update itself with a modern edge, more texture and added sexiness. And as far as 2012 hair trend predictions at Fashionising.com are concerned, this style is not a passing cloud. Read on to find out more about the hairstyle and to be taken through a how to guide. When dancer Irene Castle flaunted her bob in the early 20s, the world categorised her as an independent, mature woman, due to her courageous hairstyle. Photo by Trendy Crew. The cut:

Hair tutorial: How to create a faux bob Hope you’re enjoying this week of hair tutorials! For my next tutorial I’ve found a way to have short hair but without the big chop – a faux bob. Inspired by NYFW and the the recent hair trend for faux bobs, as seen a Rodarte and Oscar de la Renta (pictured below). What you need: Hair elasticComb / BrushBobby pinsHairspray How to create a faux bob Step by step 1 – Section your hair. 2-3 – Braid the bottom section. 4 – Pin the plait up. 5 – Tease for volume. 6 – Smooth the top. 7-8 – Make a low ponytail. 9 – Tuck the ponytail underneath. 10 – You’re done! This faux bob hairstyle also looks great with curls. This is new style for me as my hair is only just long enough to make this work, but I think it will become a regular favourite. Related posts:

...love Maegan: * Partial French Braid & Cascading Hair Tutorial *also known as the "Waterfall Braid" Fashion+Home+Lifestyle I’m not the originator of this hair style but I’ve gotten so many requests for it, I thought I’d give it a go for you. I don’t know what it’s called either so I haven’t researched it and/or found any other tutorials for it …thus, this is my version of it, and I’ve dubbed it the Partial French Braid w/ Cascading Hair. The photos I’ve seen online show the braid a little more straight across the back of the head and mine sort of braids at an angle, similar to my side/low french braid up-do. I’m sure this is 100% easier to do on someone else’s hair than your own but it goes pretty quickly once you get the hang of it …I mean, it’s my shortest hair video tutorial to date. That’s gotta mean something, right Enjoy. Note: Apologies in advance for the yelling of “NOOOO” towards the end, where I momentarily fear I’m going to lose my entire braid and have to start over. Have Fun! Find all my Hair Tutorials Here.
