Homemade Calzone

Homemade Calzone
I wanted to make something to take on the road, but the contents of the refrigerator were saying PIZZA. Hmmm... pizza is not so portable. Then I remembered CALZONE! Calzone is basically the same as pizza but with a much prettier appearance. If you want to impress your family, make your regular pizza into a calzone, and watch them "ooh and ahh." And since the filling is inside instead of on top, it's easier to take on the road! Roll pizza dough into a rectangle the length of your baking sheet. Put sauce on the center half of the dough. Just like pizza, add your toppings (our favorites are pepperoni, olives, and mushrooms). Then add cheese. Now comes the special part. This is what it looks like when all the cuts are made. Then "wrap the baby." Here is the calzone ready to bake. Uh oh... don't do what I did. For the second one, I remembered to start with my rectangle of dough ON a baking sheet. By the way, the same dough wrapping technique can be used for sweet fillings too.

Individual Coffee Bags Hi, I’m Cathe (pronounced the same as Cathy). I’m a graphic designer, crafter, creative blogger, & flea market enthusiast. I live just north of San Francisco in lovely Petaluma, California with my husband, Mr. frites & fries - Garlic Knots Most of my early food memories had to do with all the garlic dishes that my grandmother made. Preschool-me was so fascinated by the fact that Grandma smelled like garlic 24/7 and I was always so amazed that something so small could create so much flavor. My grandmother’s native Shangdong province uses a lot of garlic in their cooking so it wasn’t surprising to see my mom or my grandmother use up an entire bulb of garlic for a small dinner. Loving garlic is in my blood. When I make something with garlic in it, I tend to go nuts and use way more garlic cloves than necessary because I love using it.

Traditions I love figuring out new traditions to make with my own little family. I definitely found one for General Conference on Sunday morning. My sis-in-law (SIL) Dana was telling me about how often she goes to my friend Hannah's blog and tries out her recipes. She was telling me about all the yummy ones she has tried, including the sticky bun breakfast ring and told me I had to try it. So I decided this morning was the best time to make them while I had the LDS General Conference playing in the background. Let me just say WOW!

Spaghetti with Sauteed Chicken and Grape Tomatoes This recipe was inspired by the abundance of tomatoes and basil in my garden. These grape tomatoes are so sweet and addicting. Toss them with some low carb pasta and diced chicken and you have a delicious, healthy meal in less than 20 minutes. Perfect for a busy weeknight! Spaghetti with Sauteed Chicken and Grape Tomatoes Gina's Weight Watcher Recipes Mini Post - Pepperoni Pizza Rolls The Gunny Sack Mini Post - Pepperoni Pizza Rolls I love these quick, easy and convenient roll recipes that have a filling of some source that creates a small meal. I just recently posted Meatball Bubble Biscuits that are the same concept just different. Think of all the creative ideas you could try now that you have seen two different ideas! We are big Pepperoni lovers in this house so this one is a huge hit!

Plain Chicken A few weeks ago we ventured out for our traditional Saturday lunch. We decided to go to Another Broken Egg in Mountain Brook. We had eaten breakfast there once before and wanted to give the lunch items a try. I scanned the menu and quickly decided on the Big Rooster - grilled chicken, bacon and swiss. It was the best chicken sandwich ever! I could eat it every day. GET OFF YOUR BUTT AND BAKE!: PRETZEL BITES - Parmesan or Cinnamon and Sugar with glaze. Do you need a perfect snack for the big game? These Pretzel bites will hit the spot for sure. You can make a combination of Parmesan bites with a Cheese dip or Cinnamon and Sugar bites with a Vanilla glaze for dipping. I've finally used up my supply of Rhodes Roll dough . . . until I buy more.

The Gangs all Here Jalapeno Cream Cheese Crescent Poppers Note: The ingredients above make 32 little Crescent Poppers. It’s easy for a grown man to shovel about 8 of these in his mouth without thinking about it. So depending on who you’re having over, you might want to get another tube of rolls and one more cube of cream cheese. Fruit-Filled Puff Pastry Donuts with Lemon Glaze Fruit-Filled Puff Pastry Donuts with Lemon Glaze There seems to be this sudden craze for homemade donuts in the food blogging world, and it’s got me craving them BAD. But since I don’t have any of the fancy equipment needed to bake or fry them properly, I wanted to try to make these decadent little breakfast treats in a different way. These soft, flaky puff pastry donuts with a filling of sugared fresh fruit and a lemon glaze were so good. And I mean, someone-please-help-‘cause-I-can’t-stop-eating-them good. And since there’s fresh fruit in there, that means they’re good for you, right?

Bombs I thought I would share one of our favorite family recipes. At our house, we call them Bombs. They are basically a soft roll with yummy filling inside. To make Bombs, start with a loaf's worth of bread/roll dough. You can use any recipe for the dough (or buy frozen bread dough...which I think is the biggest rip-off on the planet), but this is the recipe I use.
