Infinity Scarf Tutorial Supplies: 1 yard cotton or jersey fabric coordinating thread sewing machine Iron out your yard of fabric folded in half (selvedge edge to selvedge edge) Following that center fold, cut your fabric in half. Decorate Yourself - Fabric Cuffs Part of the fun of fabric shopping is wandering through the "notions" section. That's the section with buttons, thread, zippers, and trims...it's the accessory section for fabric. The notions section is about as dangerous for me to walk through as a shoe or jewelry section in a department store. I have this thing for accessories. So, why not combine the two? Shabby rustic... Bright... Classic... Gold buttons... Or maybe silver?... A girl has to have some options after all. For this one, I used black trim, two types of white trim, a button, and about an inch and a half of elastic cording. I cut 8 inches of all the trims and sewed them all together down the middle. Next, I folded down the ends and sewed them. To make the loop, I crossed the ends of the elastic over each other and sewed it down on one end. I'm not sure if you can see, but I sewed at a couple spots to make sure it was nice and snug. There now, that wasn't bad was it? Then I pulled back the other way and sewed it down again.

Pleated tote (beach bag) tutorial Before we went away, I decided that a new bag for the beach was a must – something big and roomy to hold books, magazines, sunscreen, hats, and all that other good stuff. So I made this big pleated tote, and it worked perfectly. This is a picture of it in action: And here’s a little tutorial in case you want to make one for yourself – doesn’t have to be for the beach either, it could come in handy for schlepping all kinds of things around town. Here’s what you need: two pieces of your main fabric cut in shape A four pieces of the top shape (B) in a contrasting fabric two pieces of a lining fabric in shape C one piece of the long rectangle for the strap in the contrasting fabric two pieces of the top shapes (B) and one of the strap in a medium weight interfacing 1) Along the longest (22″) edge of the main fabric pieces, mark along the top at the following intervals: 3″ – 4″ – 6″ – 7″ – 9″ – 10″ – 12″ – 13″ – 15″ – 16″ – 18″ – 19″ 13) And voila, this is what it should look like.

Fully lined zippered box pouch - pattern and tutorial - it's a Pretty Modern life I love the look of a zippered box pouch...so incredibly cute. I found many tutorials on the internet, but was disappointed after making pouches following these tutorials to find that they were not fully lined; looks so much nicer when you open your pouch and there are no seams. It took me a long time to figure it out and I thought and thought and thought...then I got it♥ I don't want to keep this knowledge to myself, so here it is. I'd like to thank Jane at Projects by Jane (the only other tutorial like this that I was able to find on the internet - wish I'd found it sooner). ♥♥♥Thanks so much! The finished pouch is 3 high x 4 wide x 7 long (inches) Here's what you need: 1 twelve inch zipper 2 10x7 inch panels for the lining (my lining fabric is the green one) 2 10x7 inch panels for the exterior (my exterior fabric is the brown floral one) 2 4x3 inch pieces of complementary fabric for the pulls at the end of the zipper STEP 1. DIY Sugar Lip Scrub This week we’re turning to our friend and beauty expert Sarah Howard, of Beauty Banter, who is indulging us with her delectable brown sugar lip scrub tutorial. Inspired by one of her favorite lip polishes, Sarah recently discovered how simple it was to make her own organic version at home. The timing couldn’t be more ideal as winter’s typically unforgiving weather has us yearning for soft and smooth lips! (PS Be sure to head over to Beauty Banter for our favorite beauty products & tips!) You’ll need:pure coconut oilhoneybrown sugara teaspoona tablespoona mixing bowlan empty jar or 2.5 oz baby food jarlabels (optional) Make sure that the coconut oil is solid enough to scoop up but soft enough for a spoon to dig in. Mix the coconut oil and honey until they bind together. Add two hand packed teaspoons of brown sugar and fold it into the base. Add one teaspoon of just the oil from coconut oil jar into the bowl. The edible scrub will last up to 2 weeks if refrigerated.

Floral Print Jeans DIY image above via flickr Floral printed jeans and pants are everywhere right now. I think J Brand has my favorite pair to date but if you’re on a tight budget or haven’t found the perfect print, why not DIY your own? What You’ll Need * White jeans {mine are Levi’s Made & Crafted}* Fabric Markers. * Questions about laundering? Steps * Begin at the ankle of your jeans, and if you’re shaky, the back of the ankle. * I used a lace pattern because I liked the rough, textured look it created, and found one flower design in particular to repeat over the entire leg for continuity. * Holding the lace taught, carefully {or not so carefully} mark right through the lace onto your jeans. * It should look like this… your flowers do not have to be perfect. * Repeat the flower pattern to cover the front and back of your jeans. * You can also free-hand, if you’d prefer. * Add some dimension with various shades of blue. Voila! * find the mounted gun wall vase here Have Fun!

DIY 20 Minute Beach Cover Up ** NO SEW VERSION CLICK HERE!****HIGH-BACK VERSION/STREET WEAR- CLICK HERE****HALTER VERSION- CLICK HERE****MAXI WITH THICK STRAPS HERE** Need more help? Click HEREProbably my favorite 'la vie' project... ever. I was browsing through a swimwear catalog and saw an adorable beach cover up. I sooo wanted it, but obviously I wasn't spending $45 on it, plus, it was totally make-able. Maybe it seems a little too early to be thinking about the beach... but seriously, I can't wait. So- without further ado- the 20 Minute Beach Cover Up! (1) Cut it. (2) Braid it. (3) Attach it. Another option: if it's bunching too much in back, you can add in a tapered curve. (5) Wear it. It was so simple!

Operation Sleep Cute: Sleep Shorts I actually took a picture of the giant pile of sweatpants that I usually sleep in, but it’s too embarrassing to share. Point is, I’m trying to cute up the whole sleep situation with some quick sewing projects. It also makes lounging around the house feel sort of special and less, I don’t know….gross. I started with some sleep shorts in our beloved Nicey Jane (ooo, it’s on sale right now at Fabricworm). I also made a matching top which I will share with you once I get up the nerve to have my picture taken in it. If you have any tips on sleeping a little bit cuter, tutes to point us to so we don’t look like such slobs, or general whining about why it is that we have to look cute while we freaking sleep, leave them for us in the comments and you could possibly win the Heather Ross Double Gauze up there on the left. Chiffon Bow Top Pattern I love, love chiffon. It’s the texture of tissue paper and sometimes just as hard to work with. I’ve created this simple bow top with a fly away back (see picture below). The top’s fit is as light as air and loose, it’s perfect worn over a tank top. Materials and instructions after the jump.
