Review: Alcatel Venture for Virgin Mobile USA Article Comments Mar 19, 2012, 2:24 PM by Eric M. Zeman Alcatel offers the Venture to Virgin Mobile's prepaid crowd, an Android smartphone that includes a QWERTY keyboard, Gingerbread, and a 2-megapixel camera. Form Is It Your Type? For the contract-averse, finding a respectable phone can be hit or miss. Body The Venture is made by Alcatel, a company you may not have heard of. It's fairly long, but the mix of black, metallic, and glass materials lend it a nice appearance. Click a thumbnail above for a larger view. The body of the device is smooth, with nary an edge, ledge, or surface on which to catch you hand. The display takes up about two-thirds of the Venture's front face. One look at the keyboard and you can see that Alcatel was clearly inspired by Research In Motion's BlackBerry smartphones. The rest of the Venture's controls work well. The Three S's Screen The Venture's screen measures 2.8 inches and has 240 x 320 pixels. Signal Virgin Mobile makes use of Sprint's 3G network. Sound Basics

Multimedia and Conclusions - Samsung Replenish (Boost Mobile) Review & Rating All of the standard Android apps are here, but not much else. The phone syncs email, calendars, and contacts for Gmail and Microsoft Exchange accounts, and works with many other popular email accounts. There’s Google Maps Navigation for free voice-enabled, turn-by-turn GPS directions. The Replenish is powered by an extremely sluggish 600MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM7627 processor. Multimedia and ConclusionsThere's a standard-size 3.5mm headphone jack on top of the Replenish, and a microSD card slot underneath the battery cover. Standalone video support is dodgier. The 2-megapixel camera has no auto-focus or flash. The Samsung Replenish is a decent entry-level smartphone. If you have some extra money to spend, go for the Samsung Transform Ultra.
