My Daily Routine + Free Printables! & Simple Organized Living
It’s no secret that I absolutely LOVE my weekly planner! I carry it with me everywhere I go and reference it at least 27 times each day — seriously, I do. And even though my daily planner is super helpful for remembering and tracking my weekly, monthly, and other long-term appointments and activities; I was still struggling to find the perfect “planner” for my busy, BUSY daily activities. I like small planners, but small planners mean I don’t have enough room to write everything I do on a daily basis…so I resorted to lots of lists and sticky notes shoved inside my planner. It worked, but I knew I could come up with something better! I started looking around the web to see what I could buy or find for free, but I really didn’t come up with anything that I absolutely loved. So I created my own! I sat down and figured out exactly what I needed and wanted in a daily worksheet, and THIS is what I came up with… — I also created a blank worksheet that you can download for free, so keep reading!

I know I’m not alone in finding the Container Store’s promise of a perfect, organized life utterly seductive. But here’s the thing…I don’t really like purging, I love my stuff. Therefore I also love pretty things in which to stash my stuff, so I get to enjoy my fantasy of being organized and contained. You’ll also need a button and a bit of elastic for the closure, and a bit of ribbon for the pen. I used two layers of mid-weight interfacing on the body to give it some heft. start with the pockets 1. 2. the closure 3. 4. 6. 7.

Wipe Off Weekly Menu Board I am a meal planner. I refuse to go grocery shopping without my week’s worth of meals planned out and list made. (It’s either that or wander aimlessly around the grocery store for two hours and then make ten more trips back during the week to get things I forgot.) Once I get the groceries unloaded, I usually forget what I planned for, so I put together this super easy wipe-off menu board to keep track of what’s for dinner each night! Wipe-Off Menu Board Tutorial Supplies: Picture frame with glass front (I love these 12×12 frames I found at Ben Franklin for only $7!) 1. 2. 3. 4. Now everyone in the family knows what’s for dinner each week! I decided my frame would look better black in my kitchen, so I spray painted it black. Life As Lou :: Magic Boxes: A Life As Lou Online Class :: January :: 2008 Due to popular demand, I am doing a tutorial on the Magic Boxes I showed off in some previous posts. To begin, choose your paper. You need six sheets of matching paper (preferably a heavier weight). Outside: 6 x 11 3/4ths Lid: 8.5 x 8.5 4 inner boxes: 8 x 8 The only challenging part of this project is creating the lid and inside compartments. 1. 2. fold the tips of your paper in so that they meet at the center. Fold in all four sides, and then unfold. 3. This fold gives you the sides of your box. 4. I have also colored four triangles. 5. 6. Do the same thing on the other side. 7. Repeat this process on your 8 inch and 8.5 inch papers. Now for the outside. 1. 2. To put the boxes in, first adhere one to the very top right corner, making certain that you are flush with the corner of the outside paper. Adhere the next one to the bottom left corner, once again flush to the edge. Here are a few that I’ve made. transparency

DIY - Single Use Antibiotic Packs | Brians Backpacking Blog The ongoing trend in the consumer market of providing small, ready-to-go, individual size packages of consumables has been a win-win for the lightweight and ultralight backpacking communities. Always looking to shave a few extra ounces or grams off of our overall pack weight, these individual servings are the perfect fit for trail snacks, drinks, condiments - you name it. However, these nicely packaged individual servings can come at a premium. Which brings me to today's topic - individual size packages of antibiotic cream. I recently stumbled upon a really clever solution to this problem that involves a tube of antibiotic ointment (generic), a plastic drinking straw, a Bic lighter and a pair of needle-nose pliers (I use my Leatherman Squirt PS4 ). We're going to make very small, single use packets of antibiotic ointment using a generic alternative to Neosporin and a clean (unused) drinking straw. Turn the straw around and find the point where the ointment went up to inside the straw.
