Always in Wonder: Living Room Makeover, Part 1: Herringbone Wall Remember a couple of days ago when I posted the sneak peak picture, and told you that I went through 2 large rolls of Scotch Blue Painter’s Tape in one day? Well today I am going to show you the finished product. Our hard work totally paid off, and the wall looks so good. I saw this picture on Pinterest, and it was love at first sight. I’ve always loved herringbone pattern in fabric. This wall was created by Laurie, and featured on Design Sponge. The first thing we did was paint all of our walls. After painting the wall gray we found the center of our wall, and began measuring, marking, and taping off our vertical lines. Next, on our vertical lines of tape we measured down every 10 inches. Once everything was taped off we painted every other row with Dutch Boy’s Refresh Ultra White. You can see how the gloss changed the sheen of the Modern Classic and adds a subtle dimension to the pattern. After brushing on the gloss we waited about 20 minutes before pulling off the tape from the wall.
Handmade Salt Pouches For The Shower Or Bath I love salt scrubs, especially this time of year when I want to slough off the dead skin from winter, and I equally love bath salts for the skin softening ingredients in them – but more often than not I find myself in the shower. These pouches are perfect for combining both bath salt and salt scrub into an exfoliating pouch I can bring into the shower, and they are simple to make. You can go a few different routes when making these so play around with your recipes and find your favorite. I made these for my mom for Mother’s Day so I added a few things for specific reasons. I will list them to give you an idea of how you can customize these to suit your needs. In my moms pouches I included: A few different ideas for a mix: Oatmeal, lavender buds, and powdered milk with a little of your favorite essential oilJust sea salt and grapefruit or petitgrain essential oil for an invigorating scrubSalts, herbs, and essential oil Start with 6 cheap washcloths. Folded in half, cut them into thirds.
Paper flower tutorial I thought some of you would enjoy a quick tutorial on how to make those little paper flowers I used as part of my table setting a couple weeks ago. The credit for these go to Martha Stewart (I saw this idea nearly 10 years ago in her magazine, but haven't been able to find it on her website). So here I go.. Step 1: Draw a spiral on a 4x4" square sheet of paper Step 2: Cut out spiral along lines you have drawn Step 3: Begin rolling up the spiral from the outside Step 4: Keep on rolling until there's no more left to roll Step 5: You're done! I used a slightly heavier weight paper for this one, but you can use normal paper as well. Note: You may use a bit of glue or double-stick tape to keep the flower from unrolling and loosening up with time.
WASH YOUR MOUTH OUT! so...i was figuring that it's never too early to start washing your kids mouth out with soap...and now that can be done with these soapsicles!...lol...i'm thinking i'm not going to be asked to babysit anytime soon!...hee hee...anywho...thought i'd do up a tutorial on how to make these yummy tasting smelling soaps.... you'll need....a popsicle mold...this one's from go planet earth...but you can certainly use whatever mold you want...small soap bags...also from go planet earth...popsicle sticks...and large binder clips.... also...grab some clear melt and pour soap...glass measuring cup...soap colorant...i prefer liquid over the powder or gel...fragrance oils...and rubbing alcohol in a spritzer bottle... take your soap and cut up into chunks...and put in glass measuring cup...it takes about 2 1/4 ounces for one soapsicle...now that's solid weight...not liquid... once it's all melted...you'll want to spritz with rubbing alcohol...this takes the bubbles out of the soap... twistie tie 'em up!...
Crystal Enamel Drinking Glasses My kids are old enough that we can all use glass to drink out of now. However, it seems they haven’t outgrown using a million cups everyday to drink from. There’s always a sink full of glasses because they take a new one whenever they get a drink. I thought about doing monograms or even names, but I really wanted a set of drinking glasses that were more stylish and grown up. So instead, I went with the color code system. It all started with this box of drinking glasses I bought at the thrift store for $3.54. The set includes 6 tall glasses and 6 short glasses. In case you’re wondering how I got this pretty effect, I used DecoArt’s new Crystal Gloss Enamels. They dry clear and were perfect for this project! Then I added decorations by dipping the handle end of my paintbrush into the enamels and dotted them onto the glasses. I created flowers using this method as well. They need to dry for 48 hours. Then after 48 hours, you place them into a cold oven.

Bath and Body Recipes - Index - Bath and Body Recipes You Can Make at Home Crafty Weekend My friend, Olivia, came over today because she wanted to make some painted glasses like I had done in February. Since I can not sit idly by while other people are being crafty, I made these two new glasses. The favorite for me is definitely the squid, only heightened by the fact I used purple and yellow on it which makes it look way more awesome than I could have ever dreamed. It took me a little while to finish due to all the curves, tentacles and whatnot. This octopus is based on one from the front of a "thank you" note another friend had given me.

Dane has been a friend of mine for many years now- in fact he was a groomsman for my husband on our wedding day and his gorgeous wife was one of my bridesmaids! We also got the chance to be in their bridal party when their wedding day came around as well, so needless to say we know each other pretty well! Shape Book Tute « Cheeky Magpie I’ve had an overwhelming response to this project and everyone wants a tutorial, so here you go. First off, gather your supplies: - book for dismembering, paperbacks are great - template (I made half an apple out of a thick piece of chipboard) - exacto knife with a very sharp blade - clips - glue stick - snot dots - ink or paint for coloring and something to apply it with - decoration or embellishments Step 1 My paperback book was too thick so I split it in half using my blade. Step 2 Lay the template down on the book and cut the pages around the template. Step 3 Remove the cut paper leaving the template in place. Step 4 Once the book is cut, trim any rough edges you don’t want. Step 5 For color, I used ink refill and diluted it a bit because I wanted it to soak in to the paper. Step 6 Once the edges were done, I applied the ink/water mixture to the inside of the pages by using a “flip and wipe” method. Step 7 Once the book is dry you will need to stretch the spine so it opens. Step 8 Step 9 Step 10
