At some point near the middle of March, I always decide that I’m “done” with winter. The sweaters and jackets get pushed to the back of the closet, the flip flops come out, and I inevitably freeze my butt off for several weeks until the weather catches up with my warm-weather state of mind. Likewise, my cravings for fresh herbs and veggies are always a little ahead of the season. Growing your own herbs is a great way to save money and avoid buying too much at a time and letting most of it go to waste. If it’s still too cold to plant outside where you are (or if you’re short on space!)
How to Weave Basket
Basket weaving hasn’t been so easy with this method: weave around a cardboard frame. Originally, I saw this method in a Japanese craft magazine, I searched around for the template but can’t find it any where locally or online. So, I built it based on my dimension. Get the tutorial on how to make this easy woven basket and download the templates to try it out after this jump: I would say that this is a wonderful idea to make basket, with this method and concept, basically you can build a lot of shapes and sizes that you want. Here, I demo it with 3 shapes: triangle, round and square, but you can come out with rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, heptagon & even octagon with just a little tweak in the design. The height can be modified to suit your preference.
Seed Paper Tutorial
I first heard of seed paper–or hand made paper that has real flower seeds embedded in the pulp itself and is actually plantable–about a year ago while browsing through a stationary catalog. It was the coolest idea I’d ever seen–and so incredibly spring-y! Well, who knew that you could make this funky stuff all by yourself? And dang we had a good time! These would be just perfect to include with a birthday or Christmas card–don’t you think?
Fun with Foam Printing - Easy Tutorial
I loved this idea because not only can you recycle these horrid polystyrene containers, but the process is really simple. You could even use tracing paper and trace your design so you don't even need to be able to draw. through our gifts! This Crayon Roll Holder is a great and useful gift for children! I noticed on our crayon roll that the inner fabric lining gets marked up quite a bit from the crayons going in and out. So this time instead of using interfacing on the lining piece I covered it with iron on vinyl.

Time for another DIY craft project and today I’ll be showing you exactly how you can make this twine-ball light garland yourself. It’s one of those projects that’s a little bit messy and does take quite a bit of time, but it is so much fun. Plus you have a really cool piece of decor at the end of it. Perfect for parties or around the home, you can paint it up in any colour you want to match your design scheme, and when lit, it looks so pretty, casting lots of patterned twinkly light everywhere. Mine is now taking pride of place in my office.

I finally gave in and made marble magnets. Not surprisingly they are quite fun, smooshing the glue out to make a perfect little magnified image is very satisfying. I found a Koala Amigurumi Pattern in the Woman’s Day website and I have some off-white and gray organic cotton yarns on hand, so I made a pair of these small little stuffed koalas for my kids in reverse color. Some ideas to make it differently: 1. This adorable little koala is about 3-5″ tall only (depend on your yarn and the matching hook size), install a key ring on it’s head and turn it into a key chain, hang it to the bag’s zipper. 2. If we sew the limbs closer to the center of the body and insert 4 small strong magnets to the tip of each limb, you can make it “huggy” and hug on a tree branch or at the edge of your curtain or your pencil, ruler etc… 3. And, and…. instead of poly-fills, stuff beads into the body to weight it down and with the magnets of it limbs, it can be a cute memo holder on your desk too
