Great Books Home In the News: Monterey Peninsula College has announced an articulation agreement with Shimer College of Chicago. Under the agreement, students graduating from MPC with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in anthropology, art history, behavioral sciences, chemistry, economics, English, geology, history, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, or sociology, who also have earned the Great Books Certificate at MPC, will be accepted at Shimer with junior standing. The articulation agreement, which will be re-negotiated every three years, seeks to enhance the number and quality of learning options available to Monterey Peninsula College students who aspire to earn a high-quality bachelor’s degree. Shimer College, which describes itself “an intentionally small and exceptionally student-centered liberal arts college,” is in the top 1% of colleges and universities whose graduates go on to earn PhDs.
