11 Books You Should Read If You’re A Woman In Your 20s
According to Love Twenty, women in their twenties are supposed to read diet books and novels about shopping. I disagree. Here are my suggestions for novels you should read if you’re a woman in your twenties. 1. The Awakening by Kate Chopin (1899) This classic novel about female sexuality and personal exploration during the turn of the century is one of the first novels to explore casual sex on the part of a woman — a married woman. 2. by Sarah Hall (2007) You should read at least one dystopian novel in your twenties, if only for the reminder that everything could go to shit in a matter of years. 3. by Gillian Flynn (2012) This book is a journey into the musings of a female psychopath. 4. by Jill Grimes (2008) As the only practical book on my list, Seductive Delusions exposes common misconceptions and fallacies about STDs. 5. by Margaret Mitchell (1936) Written about the Civil War from a Southerner’s point of view, Gone with the Wind is a beautiful love story. 6. by Toni Morrison (1970) 7. 8. List of unusual deaths This is a list of unusual deaths. This list includes unique or extremely rare circumstances of death recorded throughout history, noted as being unusual by multiple sources. Some of the deaths are mythological or are considered to be unsubstantiated by contemporary researchers. Oxford Dictionaries defines the word "unusual" as "not habitually or commonly occurring or done" and "remarkable or interesting because different from or better than others. Some other articles also cover deaths that might be considered unusual or ironic, including List of entertainers who died during a performance, List of inventors killed by their own inventions, List of association footballers who died while playing, List of professional cyclists who died during a race and the List of political self-immolations. I Miss You Already I miss you when we say goodbye for a month because I am going home and because I admit I need help. I already miss you in the cab to the airport and at the airport waiting in line to get on the plane. I miss you when the plane lands and when my dad hugs me tight and says, “You’re gonna be okay, sunshine.” I miss you when you call and I go outside and sit on the grass in front of my house so we can talk in private and when you text me late at night as I go to bed in my mental health quarantine. “Goodnight, my love,” your name glows on my screen. I miss you when you go home for the holidays and when you see your childhood friends, your long-time ex who taught you everything about trust and who is the reason you hesitate to get close to people, because you loved her so much and she spent 10 years stomping on your heart and making you work for it in a way you swore you’d never do again. “If anyone else was acting this way about you, you’d think they were crazy,” I say. “The beginning?

Why It Doesn't Really Matter Who You Love Romantic relationships are strange. You become privy to another person’s peculiar workings, the singular and inevitably bizarre ways they make sense of life — their body, family, time, health, sleep, money, the culture at large. Few things are as disconcerting as finding yourself intimate with someone so utterly, thoroughly different. In a flash, you move from impossible closeness to infinite distance. Why is she breathing so weirdly? The first time one of you gets sick is a great revelation: the role of self-pity, the knowledge of medicine, the entire architecture of the body in the world comes to the fore, poignantly. And we’re left staring at each other across an infinite abyss, heads cocked in equal parts befuddlement and horror. You can, of course, cut your losses and get the hell out of there. Or you take a leap of faith across that infinite chasm and you accept everything she does, however demented. Making this move is incredible. But there is nothing special about her.

Ann VanderMeer: The 13 Of The Weirdest Short Stories Ever Written The Weird: A Compendium of Strange and Dark Stories [Tor, $29.99] contains 110 tales from the past 100 years of weird fiction collected in a single volume of over 750,000 words. Over 20 nationalities are represented and seven new translations were commissioned for the book. This is the largest collection of weird fiction ever housed between the covers of one volume. A compendium is neither as complete as an encyclopedia nor as baggy as a treasury. Although the backbone of the book reflects the immense influence of both Kafka and Lovecraft, we have ventured from that basic focus to provide different traditions of weird fiction. Of course, "weird" covers a gamut from the subtle weird to the more outré--and we encountered lots of the weirder material in compiling the anthology. Staggered-rib scarf When I came across this stitch pattern I knew it was ideal for a scarf – simple, reversible, quicker to knit than seed stitch and normal 2×2 ribbing (because it compresses less). I’ve given it a beginner rating because it’s entirely knit and purl. However, it requires a bit of concentration at first because you have to purl stitches that look like they should be knit and vice versa. If you get lost, use the photos below to check whether you’re on an odd side (rib pattern moves one stitch right) or an even side (pattern does not move).
