Photo: Jim Merithew/Wired.com It’s the most definitive assurance yet that Apple’s next iPad will include a screen with a near “retina display”-quality resolution: DisplaySearch analyst Richard Shim has told CNET that “production has started” for 2048×1536, 10-inch-class tablet screens, and three manufacturers — Samsung, Sharp and LGD — are supplying parts to Apple. “It takes a couple of weeks for the production to go to the [the manufacturers],” Shim told CNET. “Then the manufacturer puts them in the housing.

Problem Barrels We are pleased to announce an expansion to our services; we now have the capability to offer our new borescope barrel investigation using high-tech video and digital imaging processes. The precision borescope allows us to evaluate the condition of a bore for scratches, pits, corrosion or other anomalies. We have used them for checking the quality of a just-cut chamber, the concentricity of a throat with bore, and the concentricity of lands with grooves. It reveals whether a chambering reamer cut cleanly or smeared the "down stream" edge of a land. A borescope can reveal the degree of bullet jacket or moly fouling in your barrel and where it occurs earliest. It also discloses which cleaners work with the least effort and which ones do the best job. 20 Most Inspirational Quotes by Steve Jobs Oct 6, 2011 The world lost a visionary yesterday. The outpouring of support and admiration has been remarkable. In the words of Seth Godin, ‘there’s too much to say, too many capable of saying it better than I ever could.’

How to Create a Captivating Presentation “Creativity” isn’t the first word you’d associate with the average business presentation. The phrase “Death by PowerPoint” has been a cliché for years, but sadly the same clichés are being perpetuated day in day out – slides “designed” using hideous templates, crawling with bullet points and paragraphs in tiny fonts, which presenters then read out in a monotone (turning their backs to the audience), using interchangeable meaningless corporate jargon. But there is an alternative – and you hold the keys to it.Now, you may not consider yourself a natural presenter. Maybe, like many creatives, you are slightly shy by nature, at your most comfortable when seated at your desk or alone in the studio with your work. As an introverted poet, I can relate. But I managed to transform myself from someone who was terrified of standing up in front of an audience to an in-demand public speaker and workshop leader.

Apple TV review Editors' note March 9, 2015: Apple has announced a price cut that brings the Apple TV down to $69, £59, AU$109 from its original price of $99. Apple also says it will be the exclusive partner for the HBO Now streaming service, coming exclusively to US Apple devices this April for $15 per month. We'll be updating this review soon accordingly. Apple may or may not release a television someday.

Apple iOS 5 Mobile Review It seems like every time a major software revision comes along, it’s described as the “biggest ever.” In the case of iOS 5, though, that might not be hyperbole—there’s hardly a part of Apple’s mobile operating system that isn’t altered in some way by the latest update. Don’t think that this is just change for change’s sake, however. By and large, iOS 5’s changes are for the better, spackling a number of shortcomings and gaps in functionality that have existed since day one. Tempting as it may be to dub iOS 5 the “Snow Leopard” of iOS, though, it’s clear there’s a lot more to this than simply filling gaps. iOS 5 marks the first major revision of iOS to be simultaneously released for the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.

Collected Quotes from Albert Einstein [Note: This list of Einstein quotes was being forwarded around the Internet in e-mail, so I decided to put it on my web page. I'm afraid I can't vouch for its authenticity, tell you where it came from, who compiled the list, who Kevin Harris is, or anything like that. Still, the quotes are interesting and enlightening.] "Any intelligent fool can make things bigger, more complex, and more violent. It takes a touch of genius -- and a lot of courage -- to move in the opposite direction." "Imagination is more important than knowledge."

The Mac Security Blog » Carrier IQ and the iPhone – What You Need to Know Apple + Security & Privacy Smartphone users have discovered a new name in recent days: Carrier IQ. It was discovered that certain mobile phones use software by this company – the Mobile Service Intelligence Platform – to track usage and send data to phone manufacturers and telecom companies. Security researcher Trevor Eckhart looked closely into what this software does, and discovered that it records keypresses, SMSs, URLs visited, and more. In fact, the software seems to be able to record – and send to third parties – just about everything a user does on their phone.
