Everyone wants to save money Do you want to save some money on the size of the storage unit that you need? Make sure that you pack smartly. Getting the right size storage unit at the right price is very important. There is no reason to pay more for a space if you can comfortably fit everything you need into a smaller one. One of the tips I let everyone know is that if you use the same type of boxes to pack your storage unit, you’ll likely be able to stack them efficiently and securely in the unit. It is very important for you to make sure that the boxes you have chosen are of high quality and proper dimensions. Proper marking on the package is also important. If you have to visit your storage facility for any reason, ensure that you move everything that you need to the front of your storage unit. This will allow you to pack your storage unit tightly behind the belongings that you will still need to use. As always we look forward to helping you with your storage needs.

Are pay stations in the self storage industry good or bad? Technology is an undying trend that has been playing a huge roll in our everyday lives for many years now. The use of technology has become essential to the way we conduct business and live our lives on a day to day basis and it is only going to become more essential and in-depth as time goes on. With this being said self storage facilities have been utilizing technology in such ways as running our facilities with specialized software, using e-mail and our websites to connect with tenants and to keep in touch with current tenants. With these advanced pay stations becoming more and more popular, let’s talk about some pros these pay stations have to offer. First off, if you are a person who works late at night or simply can’t get to your local storage facility to pay your bill while an associate or manager is there, these pay stations make it extremely easy for a tenant to make payment at their convenience. Looking in from outside a storage facility One might think working at a Storage Facility is the easiest job going. There are days when it can become boring and then there are days when you say “oh my goodness, where did all these people come from at one time?” Believe me, it is better to be busy then not and actually when you think about it, it is a good busy. It’s not a busy where you want to scream or pull your hair out. The best scenario is: one day this week, I had a u-haul pull up to our facility and the people in it were looking for a good size unit – they had just emptied their mother’s home and it was all in the u-haul. The prospective tenants were very willing to let me get the paperwork done, get them where they could get something to eat and let me sweep out the unit. I have to tell you the most frustrating part of this position is when you call and call tenants to remind them to pay their bill, you can’t reach them because #1 – they have changed their phone numbers, #2- their e-mail doesn’t work or Brought to you by -

How to build a social machine - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal SJF Material Handling Equipment has sold warehouse equipment since 1979 from the small town of Winsted, about 50 miles west of Minneapolis. So it might be a surprise that this company has built an impressive business-to-business social media network that is fostering sales growth. The family-owned and operated firm has 47,500 followers on Twitter (and is gaining 200 to 400 followers each week), nearly 3,000 Facebook likes and 862 Google+ followers. President Stafford Sterner’s father founded the business, which stocks, sells and distrib- utes equipment such as forklifts. How does a such a company become a social media giant? “The key is to be everywhere and anywhere,” Sterner said. Sterner manages all social media accounts and personally posts to each one about six times per day. On the SJF company blog, Sterner posts about new products and employee happen- ings.

Appreciating Summer This week has sure been a busy one here at Storage Station on 26 James Street, and 29 Flint Road in Toms River, NJ. Now that the warmer weather is here, Flint Road is buzzing with activity. All of our tenants with boats, jet skis, and campers have really been taking advantage of the beautiful summer weather we have been having. As our tenants stop in to pay their bill, or just stop in to chat, they share all of their summer adventures with me. We have a couple of tenants that store their motorcycles with us, and I am always amazed at the exciting trips they make. James Street has also been very busy. So let the lazy days of summer continue for as long as possible.

First Impressions Can Be Wrong Due to the problems with the economy and my secretarial position having been dissolved, I had no choice but to accept a part time position in 2009. As I was looking for a full time job in North Jersey, I came across a position in the self storage industry. I had rented a self storage unit for six months many moons ago when I was single in New York City but my experience was not a good one! As I was readying myself for the interview, this past experience was on my mind. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the people I interviewed with were pleasant and welcoming. As I was new to the industry, I was placed in one of the locations so I could learn the business from the bottom up. My past experience with customer service was usually over the telephone or through e-mail. I have tried my best to remember all the important information that needs to be conveyed to a prospective tenant regarding the contract and insurance requirements.

Is it Winter? The weather person says that it is now winter. Is he sure? I guess it is wrong to pick on the weatherman. We have small, medium and those big boxes, for your things. When a person comes in to buy boxes, I will suggest to them that if they are buying large boxes they should use them to store things are not that heavy, like pillows, clothing and items that don’t really weigh that much. Of course we have tape to close all these boxes. There are also chair covers, bed covers and plastic sheeting to cover furniture and anything else you might think of. If your basement is sometime damp when it rains, we have found that a product we sell works very well, absorbing moisture and eliminating musty odors. Lastly when moving things back and forth from home to your unit you might need to use a couple of Stretch Cords, to tie things down as you travel back and forth. So feel free and stop at your local Storage Station when you need help with your moving needs.

A little of a lot Well here it is again the beginning of another week at the Storage Station. My o my it is also spring. Want does spring bring to the Storage Station. Well let me tell you it bring a lot of extra work around the property. Then you have the weed starting to show up every where there is a crack or hole. I like to take this time to write about the auctions at the Storage Station . We do under stand that the tenants had to leave in most cases quickly and had to store there belonging somewhere until they can get on track again. I like to take this time to say I hope you as new or old tenants of Storage Station take the time and read this little message. Brought to you by : Storage Station :
