Robert Wilson, Tom Waits & William S. Burroughs - The Black Rider (1992) Duration: 136'13" This is a TVRip of the Austrian broadcast of the original Black Rider musical, performed in 1990 as part of the Wiener Festwochen. There is a 7-minute introduction in German, and the dialogue and music is in both German and English. The Black Rider: The Casting of the Magic Bullets is a self-billed "musical fable" in the avant-garde tradition created through the collaboration of theatre director Robert Wilson, musician Tom Waits, and writer William S. Wilhelm, a file clerk, falls in love with a huntsman's daughter. Although based on folklore, the story contains strong autobiographical elements from Burroughs' own life: he accidentally shot his own wife in a drunken attempt at recreating the William Tell legend, and the story as a whole may be construed as a warning tale about the destructive powers of addiction. The music to The Black Rider was composed and performed by Tom Waits, and was released as a record in 1993.

Gean Moreno, Farewell to Function: Tactical Interiors / Journal Gean Moreno Disorientation: We Are Almost There Many of the more prominent artworks produced in the last decade or so are characterized by a recasting of what were once called installations as something closer to interiors, relegating the installation to a supportive role that places meaning in the service of activity. From an artwork spread out everywhere we turn to one that is located very precisely in the features that can be said to make up the space—the walls, the furnishings, the floor coverings, the display structures, the shelves. Whether it’s the artwork as lecture hall, museum lobby, bookshop, screening room, library, dining hall, video store, or rec room, one finds a consistent engagement with architecture’s interior spaces and conventional typologies. But this repeated rendezvous has been mostly a dance of half steps—these “interiors” don’t so much use site as setting and material as put a new skin on it. Ghost architecture « CUPtopia A map is a representation of reality, not reality itself. Sometimes it is a projection of reality, a potential reality that has not happened yet. In this case, let’s call it a utopia. Lesson / Koan : Pablo Valbuena combines the best of both worlds. Just like a cartographer, Pablo Valbuena bases himself on existing spaces. ‘Extension Series’ projects a virtual space onto the actual space. All of these projections form a mise en abyme. Blank walls suddenly have windows. Projections in the city – think lighthouses in the harbour, lasers at a nightclub – or in a space – think the movie theatre, home cinema – are like beacons. Trained as an architect, Pablo Valbuena has been linked to tangent fields related to art and architecture developing spatial concepts applied to virtual environments and digital architecture. Paintants Studio Paintants Corporation - Fabian Marcaccio Edwin van der Heide - Home Amadeo de Souza Cardoso Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso (14 November 1887 – 25 October 1918) was a Portuguese artist. Life[edit] Amadeo was born in Mancelos, a parish of Amarante. At the age of 18, he entered the Superior School of Fine Arts of Lisbon and one year later (on his 19th birthday) he went to Paris, where he intended to continue his studies but soon quit the architecture course and started studying painting. By then, he was especially experienced in caricatures. In 1913, Amadeo de Souza Cardoso participated in two seminal exhibitions: the Armory Show in the USA, that travelled to New York City, Boston, and Chicago, and the Erste Deutsche Herbstsalon at the Galerie Der Sturm in Berlin, Germany, directed by Herwarth Walden. Amadeo met with Antoni Gaudí in Barcelona in 1914, and then left for Madrid, where the shock of World War I was already underway. Work[edit] In 1925, a retrospective exhibition in France of the painter’s artwork was well received by the public and critics. Selected artworks[edit]

FRONT WINDOW : JORGE SANTOS Renée Green Renée Green (born 1959, Cleveland, Ohio) is an artist, writer, and filmmaker. Her pluralistic practice spans a broad range of media including sculpture, architecture, photography, prints, video, film, websites, and sound, which normally converge in highly layered and complex installations. Green studied art at Wesleyan University, with an intermediary year at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Green also attended the Radcliffe Publishing Procedures Course, at Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. Green wrote Discourse on Afro-American Art as her graduating thesis from Wesleyan University, a “textual analysis of criticisms, which were written by both Black and White critics from the 1920s and the 1960s.[1]” A seminal influence was Green’s participation in cataloging Sol LeWitt’s donated collection to Wadsworth Atheneum.
