Easter Island Statues: New Theory Explains How Rapa Nui Moai Were Moved (PHOTOS, VIDEO) For most, the mention of Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, the small, isolated island more than 2,000 miles off the coast of South America, conjures images of giant statues known as moai. But ever since Dutch explorers found the island on Easter Sunday in 1722, people have wondered how the Rapanui, the island's native inhabitants, were able to transport the hundreds of huge sculptures from the quarry where they were carved to stone platforms throughout the island, all without the use of wheels or draft animals. Over the last sixty years, scientists have theorized that the Rapanui moved the moai -- some of which are as tall as 33 feet and weigh more than 80 tons -- using various methods, from strapping the statues to tree trunks and dragging them on the ground to rolling them on sleds over felled trees. Two curious Guys Came Across This Secret Bunker. - SOCIAL2 Reddit User Sniper98g found an amazing Cold War relic in an abandoned shack on a military bases. These two guys have some big cojones for sure. I probably not enter this shack. So I give them respect for even entering. On the surface – This is what they saw before they entered. When they went down the ladder, this was their first stop, A small platform. This small platform lead to some staircases. Then another set of staircase… At the bottom they found a big door… Naturally they entered… That opened up pretty easily. Next was a small bridge to get to the main platform. The bridge was suspended from big ass shock isolators. This seems to be the whole reason this thing was built. Then they found this fuel tank And then they found 2 more ladders going even deeper into the surface. After they climbed down, they found bunch of old air handling equipment.
