Magazine > Digital Interiors: Pixel Furniture | 8-bit is exploding into a living room near you Last month we brought you an article on Japanese designer Kunihiko Morinaga’s pixel-inspired fashion designs, but it seems that the mighty pixel hasn’t limited its sights to the catwalk...they’'re invading your home too. That’s right, MS Paint has come to your living room. These 8-bit inspired furniture designs are the brain-child of Barcelona born London-based designer Cristian Zuzunaga. Now, we don’t know what landscape he pixellated to come up with these cushion designs, but gosh aren’t they lovely? Slightly more ambitious is this square-bodied armchair (the pattern of which looks not dissimilar to Roger Hargreaves’s Mr Men no?) What about a pixellated bin to mess with your sense of reality? For a slightly more organic take on the computer pixel, we found these chairs designed by Studio Makkink and Bey. Finally, ever thought of sculpting your own piece of pixel interior design?

Anamorphic Illusions by Felice Varini If you’re one of those pandas who read our magazine daily, you probably remember Anamorphic Medusa Inside a Factory by Truly Design or Anamorphic Typography by Joseph Egan we’ve talked about earlier. Well, it appears that these guys are not the only ones experimenting with this technique. Swiss artist Felice Varini has been creating illusions of flat graphics superimposed on three dimensional spaces since 1979 using the same eye-deceiving technique called anamorphosis. Over the course of 30+ years, Varini has created many great optical illusions, however the most remarkable work is probably “Cercle et suite d’éclats” where the artist took on the challenge of working at the scale of the village, superimposing perfect circles on the town of Vercorin in the Swiss Alps.
