Create a Sliding Storage System On the Garage Ceiling

Create a Sliding Storage System On the Garage Ceiling
If you don't have unused space above the garage door, you can install this system just about anywhere. However, keep the totes at least 2 ft. from light fixtures, door springs and garage door openers. The special reinforced totes we used (available from internet suppliers like usplastic.com, simplastics.com and others) are a bit stronger than those you'll find at home centers or department stores. If you use other types of containers, measure the rims carefully and adjust the bottom flange width to assure full support. Before you order your totes, measure the height above your garage door and find totes that'll work. Note: A Materials List and Cutting List are available in Additional Information below.

{31 days to an organized home} Day One: Organizing with Purpose I organize my home because I believe that when we clear out the things that don't matter, we make room for the things that do. Because our hearts and minds can only take so much chaos. And life has enough chaos of its own. Because we need a daily refuge from the clutter and the noise and the blaring messages that wait on our doorstep. Because an uncluttered space creates an environment where we can learn and explore. And because when we clear out stuff, we make room for people What are your reasons for wanting to organize and declutter? This is the first post in a month long series, 31 Days to an Organized Home. I would love it if you'd join me for these 31 days of tips and inspiration to organize our homes.

"Thus, we decided to search for a hideaway to this appalling landscape, offering a secluded space which features a range of atmospheres that emphasize life within the house -notwithstanding its surroundings- and, besides, for a strategy by means of which the desired climatic confort could be achieved in a passive and flexible way.

A Quicker Way to Clean House | Cleaning Guide By Arianne Cohen A few years ago, I found out that I've been cleaning all wrong. I was in a hotel room, when a maid came in and sprayed a solution on every surface…and then left. Right when I thought she'd forgotten, she returned. She wiped for less than two minutes with a thin dry cloth, and the whole place sparkled. Pro cleaners have brilliant tricks to get the job done. Change Your Strategy The biggest mistake people make is cleaning room by room (this is called "zone cleaning"). A Quicker Way to Clean Houseslow! Most pros are in favor of "task cleaning": completing one chore , such as dusting, throughout the entire house, before starting the next. The Plan of Attack: Top-to-bottom, left-to-right For each task, start at the highest point in the room (if dusting, this might mean high shelves), and move from left to right across the room. ," says Romero. Step 2: Furniture Fabric Go through the house and strip and remake beds; neaten any pillows or furniture blankets. 1. 2. 3. 4.

Cool Reader Project: Easy-Access Stanley and HF Organizer Cabinet I’ve mentioned Stanley’s 25 compartment organizers before, most recently in a Father’s Day promo post. These removable-bin organizers are incredibly versatile and flexible to use, but there’s a downside – they’re addictive. It’s hard to buy just one. That leads to a problem. If you own more than a few of these Stanley organizers, or the look-alikes that are sold by Harbor Freight, you will probably run into storage and accessibility issues. I know I have. In the past, I would stand most of my 5 organizers vertically on a wire shelf. Stacking them isn’t a very elegant or efficient solution either. That leads me to show you the project Ken shared with us – a neat and elegant way to store plenty of these organizers beneath a workbench. Ken wrote: I love the HF version of the Stanley storage trays. I like it! This is exactly what I need to do as well, if my schedule ever allows for it. I’ve seen a few other organizer cabinets, such as on LumberJocks and Tested. Related Posts:

Less is the New More: Making the Most of Small Spaces Good Design For Living in Small ApartmentsAs people migrate to smaller spaces, good design helps a lot. This is something they figured out in Europe long ago, that if you don't have a lot of horizontal room you can go vertical. Tumidei in Italy makes some of the nicest stuff, like this unit with lots of storage under the bed. This unit just raises the floor high enough for beds to slide under. This one looks a bit clinical, but has two single beds plus a pull-out double bed in between. None of this stuff is cheap, nor, as far as I can tell is it available in North America, but there are ideas here that demonstrate how people can share a space and still get a little privacy, a good place to work and a lot of storage in a very small envelope. DIY Homemade Grout Cleaner For the past week, I've been preparing my kitchen for the big "addition." I'm working hard to get it ready, so that when it is done, it's done! It's amazing when you look at something everyday you don't realize how much things can change...example: I clean my kitchen...a lot! We have builders grade tile floors with a light gout. Not my favorite, but it will do. 1/4 cup bleach 3/4 cup baking soda Not exactly rocket science! I guess I wasn't using too much brain power that day, because one reason it never looked sparkling clean while I was cleaning it was because it was wet. There is nothing like a little spring cleaning and elbow grease to get you in a good mood! Rachel :)
