Twitscoop - Stay on top of twitter! - Search twitter, twitter client, hot trends (new realtime results) OneRiot.com - Find the Pulse of the Web A few weeks ago, a small team from @WalmartLabs visited the offices of OneRiot in beautiful Boulder, Colorado. OneRiot has developed some pretty nifty technology that analyzes social media signals from popular networks like Twitter and Facebook to deliver ads that are relevant to consumers’ interests. As our teams debated the finer points of Big Data, Fast Data, and machine learning technologies, it became clear to us that we could find no better colleagues than the guys at OneRiot. As a part of Walmart, we're continuing to work with the intensity of a technology startup. As I have written before, here at @WalmartLabs we’re doing some amazingly interesting and impactful work at the intersection of social, mobile, and retail. It gives me great pleasure to welcome Tobias Peggs and the OneRiot team to @WalmartLabs!

Serious Analytics for Social Relationships Twitalyzer's Data Use and Privacy Policy Twitalyzer makes use of publicly available data in all cases, regardless of source. Twitter StreamGraphs A StreamGraph is shown for the latest 1000 tweets which contain the search word. The default search query is 'data visualization' but a new one can be typed into the text box at the top of the application. You can also enter a Twitter ID preceded by the '@' symbol to see the latest tweets from that user. A parameter to the URL can be used to specify the initial search word. For example, use to see the latest tweets about coffee. CrowdEye Twitter Search Twitter StreamGraphs By: Jeff Clark Date: Tue, 15 Jul 2008 I just posted a new application in my projects section called Twitter StreamGraphs. It is an interactive tool to let you create StreamGraphs from the latest tweets containing a given word or from a particular user. A few examples are shown below. The application shows a StreamGraph for the latest 200 tweets which contain the search word. The default search word is 'interesting' but a new one can be typed into the text box at the top of the application. The StreamGraph shows the usage over time for the words most highly associated with the search word. Credits go to Lee Byron for the visual ideas behind the StreamGraph (although I'm using a simpler symmetrical form), to Processing for the development tools, to Martin Porter for the Porter Stemming Algorithm, to Vaga for the two small icons, and to Summize for building a great API into the Twitter data.

Latest comScore Stats Show Twitter Growth Is Still Strong Online analytics firm comScore has released its latest batch of data, and this month’s results show that Twitter is still exhibiting strong growth. According to comScore’s numbers Twitter grew from 83.8M unique vistors in April to 90.2M in May worldwide — an increase of 7.6%. By comparison, there was 5.5% growth between March, when Twitter had 79.4M, and April’s 83.8M. To give some perspective, a year ago comScore showed that Twitter had 37.3M million uniques. It’s important to note that these numbers aren’t necessarily a good measure of the total number of people people using Twitter’s platform (it only includes data for people who have been to Twitter.com, and not any applications that access Twitter through the API). And last week Twitter COO Dick Costolo shared the company’s internal stats, which show that Twitter gets 190 million visitors per month, and 65 million tweets a day.

New 2008 Social Technographics data reveals rapid growth in adop by Josh Bernoff Data is my secret weapon. Every time I visit a company, we bring data we’ve collected about the social behaviors of their customers, structured according to the Social Technographics Ladder we introduced last year, a technique we rang the changes on in chapter 3 of Groundswell. When I go to Vanguard, I show them the profile of their customers – and their competitors'. But data gets old, especially in the rapidly changing social world. Forrester clients can see our complete analysis of the 2008 data in a document we just published, called The Growth Of Social Technology Adoption. Looking at the US data, the big news in 2008 is that, not unexpectedly, social technology participation has grown rapidly. As you can see, there was also a nice healthy jump in Joiners (social network participants), Critics (those who react to social content they see), and especially Collectors (those who organize social content). As usual, the real story comes when you look behind the statistics.

Gist Advanced Twitter Search Social Media Brand Monitoring Determine Your Facebook Page’s Value [APPS] Social media management company Vitrue has released a free tool today, the Social Page Evaluator, designed to help marketers get a better understanding of a Facebook Page's value. Just submit a Facebook Page URL and the app will come up with a valuation based on factors like number of fans, number of posts per day, number of interactions and so forth. It's a cool — if not completely scientific — way to gauge the potential value of your Facebook Page to advertisers. Likewise, there is a "Fan-tasize" section that lets you manipulate other features like number of posts per day, engagement level and Fan count to see how that affects the valuation. You can also compare a Facebook Page with up to three other brands at a time and view a Page's value history. So how accurate is this tool? What do you think of the tool? [img credit: Photos8.com]

The Three Types Of Searches Bill from SEO By The Sea published a good article entitled "Writing Content for Small Businesses Online", in which he talks about search taxonomies. For those new to the topic, I thought I’d go over it, and show it applies to SEO strategy. I’m basing this article on the study "A Taxonomy Of Web Search"(PDF), by Andrei Broder. Andrei is VP of Search Advertising at Yahoo, although he wrote this report while he was with AltaVista. What Is A Search Taxonomy? In summary, a taxonomy is the practice and science of classification. In terms of search, we focus on classifying keywords into three distinct classes – navigational, informational and transactional. If you can determine user intent behind keyword queries, you can better target your keyword strategies. There is, of course, a lot of cross-over between these three types of queries, which I’ll address shortly. The Three Types Of Searches In the study, keyword queries are divided into three groups. Navigational Informational Transactional Conversely….
