diy nailhead stair runner Finally, it's done! My Ikea rug and brass nailhead totally DIY stair runner. Installing a carpet runner on stairs turns out to be not terribly hard. That said, I did have some awesome help from my pro carpenter man with nail gun and better measuring skills than me, so that made things much nicer. And freed me up to take lots of pics for y'all. Total number of stairs Time 3 hours, not including setup/cleanup & nailheads Materials and costs carpet adhesive $12.97 trowel $2.97 carpet seam sealer $4.47 nail gun and pins, already owned staple gun and staples, already owned hammer, already owned tape, already owned utility knife and razor blades, already owned Total project cost: $235.31 And here's how to install your own stair runner. {1} Lay out your rug where you want it. {2} Start at the bottom. {3} We had a little jog in the wall and had to trim the carpet at the beginning to accomodate it. {4} Lay out a piece of tape at the base to mark your starting line, which is of course straight.

Lolalina — Find your sweet life LIVE laugh LOVE Milk Bottles-DIY Oh...I love love love these! I CAN NOT lie! And they are a fairly easy DIY creation. *here are MY bottles...I had to post the pic up here so that the pic showed up in the blog reel. Here are her white bottles embellished just right and topped with super cute ribbon: Photo belongs to Kindness Matters. If you haven't already guessed...these are frappucino bottles. So here's what I did to "redefine" 'em: Washed 'em of course. Then I put some Divine White paint inside with a tiny bit of water. In the meantime, I spray painted the lids using Rustoleum's Textured Dark Brown. I wrapped the neck of one bottle with hemp and tied the other two with burlap strips. Then, I created an Up Words & On Words vinyl design and used my Silhouette to cut the lettering in Turquoise. BAM! Whattaya think? I {LOVE} them! Thanks for stopping by! Partying at the following: Monday: Have a great day!

linen and lavender Beach Cottage Sign: Seas the Day – Sally Lee by the Sea Coastal Blog Posted on April 18, 2011 by Marie of Sally Lee by the Sea, LLC in coastal crafts . Here we are again at the beginning of the week, is it just me or do the weekends go way to fast?! I’m happy to report that the sun came out on Saturday which certainly brightened up our little cottage. The flowers, which are way behind in blooming this year are getting close (hopefully). One of my favorite things to do is photograph flowers so I’m in serious withdrawal this spring. I’m one of those people that LOVE quotes and words and one of my favorite sayings is, “Seize the Day.” We found an old crate that had seen better days (don’t worry, I considered carefully if it could be used for anything else first) and a few whacks with a hammer, pulling out of nails provided some rustic-looking sign boards for FREE. Sand, prime, paint, sand, paint, write, sand, paint, dry and add a sawtooth hanger – that pretty much sums up how to make it! - Unique and Distinctive Gifts & Jewelry Inspired by the Sea.

Roses and Rust Christmas Craft Link Party! Season’s Greetings, Ho Ho Ho, Happy Festivus, Happy Hanukkah and Merry Merry Merry Christmas friends ! ‘Tis the season for sparkle and shine, homemade treats, crafting, baking, decorating, and holiday cheer! We’ve been busy around here with all of those delights, and I have just a few to share today. The first is this little ‘Love Stitched’ ornament I made for my stepdaughter who is off at her first semester of college this year. Living in a dorm, she needs something to keep it smelling fresh, so I stitched a sweet sentiment with red embroidery thread on linen, cut out a heart shape, filled it with a lavender and rice mixture, and sewed it all together. I slipped it in her stocking, and I can’t wait till she finds it! Next, my littlest ones helped paint and glitter up some very merry MDF letters found at a craft store. I stapled ribbon to the back and suspended them in our dining room area, how fun! Here’s the printable PDF if you’d like to print it as art or recreate this at home.

Veranda’s The House of Windsor Just a short blog today to tell you about Veranda magazine and The House of Windsor. I’m really loving Windsor Smith these days. I love what she is doing in design – all shine and blues, silks and zebras, hand painted wallcoverings, and gray and white marble. I only wish she was on Million Dollar Decorators, which by the way, if you aren’t watching you should! And speaking of Tara Shaw – the next post on Cote de Texas will be a giveaway from our sponsor The Bella Cottage and TARA SHAW!!!!!
